Default VQ35DE Upper Oil Pans Interchangeable?

I decided to replace my damaged upper oil pan in my new motor. I removed both upper oil pans from both motors. The new engines (the one with the damaged upper oil pan) has a shield around the oil strainer. The old motor (the one with the good upper oil pan) does not. What is this "shield" for, and will it be a problem that I'm swapping the upper oil pan with one that doesn't have the shield?

Also, the service manual says to replace the two o-rings on the engine block. Is that a necessary step?

Neither of my motors had that strainer... But as long as your oil pick up fits in the hole it should be fine.

Is your new motor a rev up?
