Non magnetic piece in oil pan
Replacing gallery gasket on a 2003 with 71k miles, shop found a single piece of non magnetic metal (very light weight) in the oil pan but no other metal shavings.
What might this be and how concern is it?

Weird. The only thing with rough-ish casting inside the engine are the main caps but I'm not sure that's where it's from. Timing covers are smooth inside and out so it ain't from there.
No idea, mate.

Good pic!
Nonferrous and metal= aluminum/light duty. Not cynical but have some doubts aluminum was found in your oil pan, just saying. Gl!

If I had to wager a guess I might say a casting from somewhere in the upper oil pan or from the heads near the camshafts and it wiggle it’s way down or something from the illuminati…

Ha, yep. That occurred to me after I posted. It was the only thing I could think of with rough-ish casting like that, because the upper oil pan is pretty smooth too, but forgot about the non-ferrous aspect.
