Unhappy Oil Leak.....not fun.

Well i just changed the oil on the car for a second time since i had it now when i bought the car (03 z touring) it had a small oil leak, now from the looks of it, it looked like it was the oil pan gasket so i said what the hell lets change it so i bought the new gasket put some silicon on the oil pan and put it back on now i still have the leak.... i don't know what it is so i cleaned all of the bottom the oil pan and around it....next day everything was filled with oil and left a good amount of oil on the floor not a lot just about 5 inch oil spot, what else could it be???

cliff notes:

changed oil pan gasket
still leaking
what else can it be??

Check around your oil filter.. I had an 03 with a very tiny leak on one of the oil lines near the oil filter location.

Troubleshooting a oil leak is a headache. Oil on the ground may not be helpful. Oil may take all sorts of directions before dripping to the ground.

Begin with a clean motor so you can see or feel oil.
Put some newspaper on the ground. A spot will give you an idea which side has a leak. Good luck.

+1 for a oil line around the filter. Maybe if you post up some pics we could help.

Good luck.

Well i'm thinking its the bottom oil line thats attached to the base of the oil filter thing cause it has traces of oil and that's really the only place that has the traces of oil.

Could it be the rear main seal? For your sake I hope it's not, because it can be a big PITA to replace.

My 06 had a split o-ring on the bottom of the dipstick tube causing a leak and under driving conditions would spray onto the exhaust manifold. Dealer fixed it no charge (obviously)

Okay, I can trump most of you (not a good thing). I have a 2006 that the entire engine was replaced (free thank God) and now it is leaking again. A good local local found the leak - here is what he stated --Oil is leaking from the Oil Filter Cooler Housing--

The dealership is fixing the new engine for free. I love my roadster but she spends more time in the shop instead of the road...

I think the leak that I have is in this hose ( 21308] HOSE-WATER) (IDK why they call it a water hose when its for oil, unless its a generic name)

I notice that I have steam coming out of my passanger side of the car( and when I was able to crawl under the car, the pass-side headers were lightly coated in oil from the underside. Indicating a leak from this hose. The car drips about 2 drops a day, and the drip streams to the pass-side of the car.

Is this hose usually an issue with you guy's cars?

The image looks like it's from Courtesy Parts. Helpful diagrams w/ part pricing - definitely worth checking out if you haven't already.

That is a coolant hose, not oil. If you have an oil leak in the upper region on the passenger side it could be power steering or valve cover/cam solenoid. If the smoke smells sweet then it is coolant.
