Nismos'
im thinking about pouring most of the money that i've saved into the car, performance... i remembered while back reading a topic posted by someone saying that the car's ECU compensates the power and makes the car run the way it was programmed even with aftermarket performance mods. i still dont know that if it's true or made up or w/e...
anyway, i was wondering that should i spend on performance mods? im thinking... Nismo: CAI intake, cat-back exhaust, camshafts, header, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disc, LSD. the car only have 300 miles on it right now(it's not my primary car), so im not going to do anything to it anytime soon until either it broken in or the warranty ran out.
just wanted your guys opinion if the upgrades are worth it.
thnx!

Nismo products don't always make the highest performance gains for the Z. I've heard that the CAI (any brand, but JWT) can actually reduce performance, but I'm not really sure of that. As far as the clutch/flywheel/pressure plate assembly, I'd probably go with JWT because I know their flywheel does weigh less than the Nismo's (might as well get the matching clutch, too).
The rest of your list looks pretty good and I'd love to have any of those on my car, but I lack the money. Keep us posted when you start your project!

Just my .02 worth. After spending as much on mod's as the cost of my car here's my primary list for our customers. Again, might not be the best, just what we have found with the products we use. We are going power for $$ spent. There are alot of great choices and vendors so do your homework!!
JWT Pop-Charger
Nismo Cams
UD Pully (crank only)
RT Cat's
Nismo Exhaust (any exhaust)
At this point ECU only if you find it necessary (watch tail pipe and plugs).
Have fun with this!!! Jeff

I wouldnt drop most of my savings into the car.
Keep your $ in the bank. If you have some extra $ saved
to mod you'd be better off. Besides better and better parts
keep coming out.
I say get The NISMO exhaust first. You'll love it. It will keep your Mod hunger under control for a lil while. it's like 850 now. Check out Performance.
I threw the Exhaust and CAI on after a few hundred miles.
Unless you really have the $ to burn then of course Mod the S#@%T out of it. Go Turbo/SuperCharged.

Jeff,
Did you test both JWT and Nismo cams? Are they similar?

well im actually thinking about a S/C instead of those small upgrade parts for the same price. i dont want to get a TT cuz every mother on this planet has one
, so i "might" get a Stillen S/C. you guys think that's more worthy?
it says that it's going to pump the Z to 350hp(RWHP?), that's quite low for a $4900+ S/C. since the Z stock is almost 300hp, im thinking about making it around 400+.
tnx again!

That 350 is RWHP and the Stillen is set at conservative levels. You do need to upgrade your hood with that kit if I remember correctly.
The Z puts down 287 crank hp and that translates to anywhere from 220-240 RWHP on average, depending on the car, dyno, and who you talk to. So the stillen kit does net you over a 100 hp to the wheels and it is one of the cheapest S/C options out there.
Superchargers can be made to make more boost. What you really want to look at is the efficiency chart of blower that comes with the kit, what RPM it's running at, and what RPM it can handle. That will be more indicative of the boost numbers you can achieve with the proper tuning.

Please also remember something that people tend to forget. If you get a supercharger or turbos you will still have to get a very high flowing exhaust to get the best performance out of the upgrade. In the case of the supercharger you may have to get a high flow intake unless the kit already comes with one. So don't think that just buying the supercharger is the end. You will also need to think about cost of installation since you are not familiar with tuning. Installation could be very expensive unless you know someone in the business. Good luck.

The JWT's cost me a bunch of low end power that I got used to. Now don't get me wrong, the JWT's have awesome mid (3500rpm) up to red line pull. My rev limiter is moved to 7200rpm with my T/S upgrade and I bounce her off the limiter ALL THE TIME, but I still would rather have the low end power I lost in the process. Now don't take this as "FOR ALL CARS", as all of them are in a different form of modification. This is just what I've found to be the case for my car. Also I think my car the way it's set up now with the JWT's will benefit from one of the better plenums that are on the market. Looks like that will be the next thing to try while we build my new engine in the shop this summer.

What is the redline on the NISMO cams? does it make HP above 6,600?
