Default Removing VVT?

Hey all. It has been a while since I have been on the forums and I am going to be buying another car soon and am considering the use of a VQ35DE motor... custom as always for those of you are familiar with my previous work.

Does anyone have any links to resources about removing the VVT? Can you just leave them unplugged without issue? Can you remove the solenoids and block off the oil passages?

Just trying to understand my options as VVT is the one open ended item for the direction I am looking to go. If anyone has some feedback it would be appreciated.

Hey bud! Doing well.

I am buying a Factory Five 33' Hot Rod and thinking about putting a VQ in it. Would be using a mega squirt 3 standalone and I simply don't want the hassle of the VVT tuning.

Would most likely be twin turbo, TH400 transmission, air to water intercooler and about 350-400 whp in about 2,250 lbs.

Don't see why you cant just pull the cam position solenoids. The MS wont care but the stock ecu would, so does haltech.

The trick would be setting your base timing, say 15deg by chain teeth setting and being done with it. The trick would be to know what the angle is when the solenoid is off and go from there.

I believe some of the nismo racing teams do this and just make a block of plate where the cam position solenoid are but they also have adjustable cam gears.

Made 640whp on your old engine btw.

Great job CUX!

I will continue to do some research as o have seen people block them but I am not sure if they are using the stock sprockets anymore.
