1st "Major" issue out of my Z
Hey everyone,
I have a 2004 350z and I was driving this morning, everything was fine but there was a considerable amount of rainfall and some puddles maybe and inch thick at the most, nothing hugely deep. The car is lowered 1 1/2in btw... So when I was driving, I decided I didn't want to take a risk of damaging anything, so after about 5 minutes after leaving the house, I turned into a gas station to turn around and go home. Suddenly, all the lights come on (BRAKE light, Battery, Check engine, Seatbelt and I had mine on, etc...), steering wheel and brakes seized up. So I pulled the E Brake and was glad that it happened there instead in the middle of the road in the pouring rain, but was wondering what exactly happened. Popped the hood, no water in the engine bay for the most part. I was only going around 30-35 in a 45 just for the purpose of not wanting to damage anything. Tried starting it a few hours later and it started up just fine. Guess there was some water somewhere that had to dry out. My question is, where was the water at just out of curiosity, or if water isn't the case, then what was the issue if anyone knows the answer? I've never experienced this issue so I'm completely lost. Any help and advice is appreciated, thanks

Do you have a cold air intake? I sucked water in the tube once... **** was removed the next day... If not are all your splash guard's and fender liners in place? No way we are going to know exactly what sensor got wet to stall you out...

So the point here is that, rain or not, the Z stalled. A CPS failure will cause the VQ to stop running. Fortunately for you, it started up again and allowed you to get home where you could check for codes. Don't let circumstances confuse you (or anybody else)- the Z has a sophisticated diagnostic system onboard, so USE it!
Nah, that's one of the next on the long giant list everyone has, but thanks I'll keep that in mind!
