Question First post, already got a question

Hey yall, name is Zak. I live in Lubbock, Tx and just recently purchased a 2006 350z Touring edition 6MT with 68k miles on it. Very well taken care of and seems to be rather well maintained. I've had the car about a month now, and I am LOVING it. So much fun to drive, and I just can't say enough good about the car. However, I do have a question about something strange that happened today. Now I learned to drive a manual at the age of 13 in a semi, and have basically been driving them my whole life, from semi's to pickups and cars, and I'm pretty mechanically inclined. However, I have NEVER experienced what happened to me today. I was accelerating down a street today, about 5pm, and admittedly as running it pretty hard, went to shift from 2nd to 3rd at about 4800rpm, and it acted like I missed a gear, so I pushed the shifter to make sure it was in third and it wouldn't go in. I pushed the clutch and it went straight to the floor with little resistance. My first thought was "Great, I broke that little pivot ball." I pull into an empty parking lot ahead and stop, I try to push the clutch and it's the same thing, just a soft feeling pedal with a slight pulsing feeling, and of course won't go into any gear. I pop the hood and start looking at the slave cylinder and everything in that area. Fluid is CLOSE to the minimum mark, but not quite to it (note to self-replace clutch fluid asap), I crack the cap, wait a few seconds, put it back on, and get back inside. I pumped the clutch a few times, and pop, went into first . Start to accelerate slowly and shift to second, then third, clutch slowly begins to regain feeling, and now it seems to be working fine. The pedal does feel softer than before, but everything seems to be working ok. I did some tests, starting out in 2nd with the handbrake up, it stalled. 40mph, shift to 6th, lugs instead of slipping...Not sure what in the heck happened, but it kinda got me worried. What do yall think?? Replace clutch fluid this weekend and hope for the best? Start saving for new clutch? Start saving for built tranny?? Haha jk on that part. Like I said, NEVER had this happen to me before on a vehicle....I'm at a loss.

Check rubber line going to slave cylinder underneath. Check master cylinder for leaks. Sounds like a bad slave cylinder to me. Or you popped a hole in a line, or had air in the system........I would bleed the system completely out with new fluid and see what it does

this, cheap and if it doesnt solve the problem, i would replace both the master and the slave

(btw, the master is under the hood and the slave on the trans... so when you popped the hood you were inspecting the master)

Checked it out this morning, didn't find any holes in the hose, so i guess this weekend I'll flush and bleed. Thanks man, I appreciate the quick reply!

probably got air in the line from a violent shift and low fluid. Were you going down hill at the time?

No, it was a straight and level road. Based on the replies I've received thus far, It seems that bleeding and flushing is going to be best course of action as of right now, at least to begin with. I'm hoping you're right, and it's was just some air in the line.
