I agree that it's the clutch.

You did install a clutch disk right ?

cd009 transmission with a short pivot ball for my 04 350z

What's perplexing me most about this is the slave cylinder seems to stay stuck in "clutch disengage" position yet you say you removed it and the problem persists.

But I'm with Len on this.... sounds like the tranny needs to be dropped to check the clutch install because it's clearly disengaged and staying that way.

Another "obvious" set of speculative questions.... you mention twin disc.... you got both of the plates in there? Is the input shaft engaged with the crank?

Scratching my head....

so i removed my transmission, i have a spec super twin disk clutch.

i had the words "flywheel side" on 1 of clutch disk facing the transmission

the other clutch disk with the words marked on it saying "trans side" facing the transmission also.

i am suspecting that i might have overtorqued the pressure plate bolts and possibly had the clutch disks facing the wrong direction and possibly in the wrong order.

the throwout bearing looks like it has been installed correctly nothing appears to be damaged within the transmission

basically spec did not come with any real good instructions, all i did was unloosen the bolts to the entire clutch and put it in the exact order that all the clutch disks came in i did not turn any of the clutch disks around or move anything around......

That explains the clutch, but not the situation you described with the slave.

Hopefully that's all it is! When you're all done, I'll share my "story of humility" regarding a Z clutch.... think I did here somewhere before but it's a forever story....for me at least.

Good luck.... been scratching my head over this one. I pride myself as something of a "diagnostician" and to not be able to figure it out, well, it's a blow to my ego. And that's a big hit! Hahahahaha!

so i call a couple of shops to triple check that i installed the transmission and clutch properly.

also since i had to pull my entire engine and transmission out because of how my headers are designed......i was told to put the car in first gear with car off put the driveshaft on and turn the crankshaft pulley if the driveshaft turns that means the transmission is working.

so yeah this is what i did and it appears that yes my driveshaft is turning so the assumption now is that my transmission should be working properly when i put it all back together and turn the car on.

as far as the slave cylinder goes, i just replaced the dorman slave cylinder with a nissan oem slave cylinder that i had laying around the house.
