Is the vlsd not up to the task?
I used to be able to powerslide my car on dry pavement with just a throttle stab. Since I installed whiteline diff bushings to replace the blown ones, the inside tire just spins and the outside holds on. I have to use clutch kicks to step it out, which I'm not a fan of. I'm wondering if replacing the oem vlsd with a new one will give me enough locking to powerslide it properly again. I've got 100k miles and so I'd assume the fluid is pretty tired. I've found one for 350$ new. I'd really like to get a quaife, but I won't be able to afford one for quite a while. My question is, if I replace my vlsd with a new one, will I be in the same boat with single tire fires?
I should add that with the rear off the ground, both tires spin in the same direction in neutral, and with it in gear, they spin in opposite directions, but there is a lot of resistance, so the vlsd is working in some capacity, possibly just a diminished one.

old VLSD is junk, a new VLSD is junk, you may have similar results shortly after install.

I can say that with my new Quaife, it takes nothing to get it to go sideways with traction control turned off. It would make a fantastic diff for drifting. (I'm not doing it on public roads, parking lot at work FTW.) Worth every penny. Best mod you can do to the Z, next to FI. I've got Injen CAI, Megan Headers, Borla true dual exhaust, and now the Quaife ATB. I'm gonna be buried in this car
