So i started my 03 350z this morning and as soon as i start it, i hear a whining/screaming noise. I let the car warm up for a bit and the noise stops. I started heading to work and drove about 10 miles and the car stalls. Turns back on but the noise comes back and wouldn't go away until, drove it for about a half a mile till i got to work and turned it out.

 

Maybe your alternator or an idler pulley seized up and the belt is squealing? I would check the oil level in the engine too, just to be sure that's not a problem. Does the volt meter read 14.4 when it's running?

 

could be the belt has never been replaced, and or the tensioner going out

 

The volt meter does read 14 while running. tried turning the car after getting off work and right away heard the noise. I'm going to be checking it out tomorrow and see whats the issue

 

Might just go ahead and put on new belts because most likely wasn't replaced before i bought the car.

 

Ended up being the alternator.. Just ordered it! Thanks for your input
