Default Charcoal Canister Issues?

So I've been having a recurring P0300 I've been chasing down for a while. Tried pretty much everything and it won't go away. I've fixed a number of small issues in the hopes it would be fixed but no dice. Anyway, now that the car is pretty solid and I've been driving it all the time I've noticed another problem. I have sluggish/bouncing acceleration (mainly below 3K) but once I hit 3k or so and get on it the car runs great. I'm also having trouble refueling the car. I have to hold the pump at a weird angle and hold it only about 3/4 of the way to fill up. Spoke with some mechanic friends and they mentioned it could be a charcoal canister issue. The only experience I have with charcoal canisters is pulling them out of 240's and sending them to the trash, thus this thread.

Has anyone else had this issue before? If so, how did you fix it? I need to pass emissions with this car (I usually just register out of FL) and definitely feel like its probably best not to drive the car hard in this condition.

CAR INFO: 03 350z, intake, osiris reflash, about 112k on the chassis, unknown on the motor but supposed to be less than 50k.

Thanks, BJ

I should also mention that the car sat, completely unused, (gas in the tank but no engine) for 3-4 years before I bought it and has spent most of the last 2 years sitting as well. Started driving it daily (only about 10mi a day average right now) about a month ago and this has been a consistent problem.

So I vented all three lines from the evap box and the car drives 100x better. If anyone knows of any way to fix the evap box without replacing it please share. I'd like to avoid buying a new one if possible.

Is all the years-old gas gone? If not you are chasing rabbits.

Also, get some fuel system cleaner, Berryman B12 or Chevron Techron. Can't hurt, might help a car that sat. gl.

You could get a used one for $90 from here... Maybe a local junk yard would have one also... Lots of Z's end up around tree's

It should all be gone by now. I've put maybe 500-1k miles on it at this point and always use premium. I did put an additive in the tank a while back but I can't remember exactly which one. I think the very very slight hesitation that's left is due to still having cats even though the tune was for a car with test pipes. I'd really like to maintain the evap system in this car though so I can register at my house finally and not get that fuel smell if it sits for a bit.

Gotcha!
I remember you've had quite the project to get it to run right. If you need new or used parts or service, I recommend Z1 just west of ATL. Very friendly, free advice, knowledgeable guys. Only shop I hand my keys to btw.

Ask for Jon, tell him your car was tuned for TPs, so just a reflash, not a full Dyno tune.

Thanks man, and yea it's been a bit of an ordeal but for a total cost of about $4500 so far I can't complain too much. Z1 is definitely the **** lol. I've ordered a lot of Z and 240sx parts through them as well as having them reflash the Z and they've always been great to do business with. Just wish they were at least as far north as downtown. That Marietta to Carrollton drive sucks hahaha.
