CD009 compared to CD001
i finally got around to swapping in a cd009 after years of complaining about grinding shifts. I looked and looked for ways of identification for a cd009. And couldn't find any. The main thing I noticed from looking is my cd001 had a solid mount shifter bracket. The cd009 has rubber bushings in the bracket holes.
cd001 no counter weight.
Second is my cd009 had a counter weight or something on it that the cd001 did not. Now these 2 things could be because it's newer or because it came from a G35 which was meant to be softer and smoother. However i did not see either of those things when looking at older g35 transmissions. Just was thinking maybe this could help others out in the future.

Yet you just gave him a source. Hahahahahaaaaaaa.... Trav, stay away from those over-the-counter hallucinogens.
For the OP.... another tip: DE-specific versions of the '009 went by Nissan PN 32010-CD009 but has been superseded by Nissan PN 32010-CD00A (if you are searching for a new one).

And there's probably at least another dozen or so threads here on this:

best way to know is call concept z performance or a Nissan dealer and give them the vin on the transmission. I just sold one yesterday that had the CD0#1 on the side and it is a cd009 and last week I sold one that had cd0#2 on the side. Nissan started installing the cd009 transmission around mid 2004.

Well, it looks like NISMO87 beat me to the punchline while I was looking up the "other thread" I usually reference.

And he's correct. All transmissions up to '07 (HR motor cars) had transmission CASES marked "CD0" and some/not all appended with "#X" (1 or 2). CD0 #1 (or without the "#X" on it) was used - as he mentioned - to end of '05 MY and that common CASE was used for all versions CD001 to CD009 (2005).
Repeat: Only '06 CD009s were marked CD0 #2
'07+ transmissions on HR/VHR (in both Nissan and Infiniti) have a different CASE marked "CD5" and are NOT backward compatible to DE - completely different bellhousing, actuation mechanisms (CSC), tail shaft/yoke (I think).
If you’re working with a CD009 transmission and want to ensure smooth performance, it's great to know you’ve got a solid setup. However, if you're dealing with complex data analysis in automotive engineering—such as performance testing, drivetrain efficiency, or material stress calculations—you might need advanced curve-fitting techniques.
SplineCloud offers a powerful curve fitting tool that allows engineers to analyze complex datasets with parametric splines. Whether you're mapping shift patterns, analyzing torque curves, or modeling gear ratios, this tool can help refine your data for better insights.
