Default Cam chain problems

My baby broke down several days ago while driving home everything was fine before I lost power and had to coast to the side of the road, I bit the bullet and had it towed over to the Nissan stealer ship to have it checked out. One of the techs took off the oil cap and let me look down the hole and had another tech try to start it after he had already evaluated it pretty much was a cam chain broke didn't take much more apart to evaluate much more, before charging me almost 200.00 for that evaluation or pay almost $8,000 for a new engine with a 24 month warranty this was the price out the door! So I had it towed over to a performance shop which work on Z's for a second opinion currently waiting on that evaluation, I'm willing to pay as much as $3,500 out the door for repairs this is a very sweet 2006 Le mans sweet 350Z just installed Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs and Hotchis sway bars plus many, many sweet mods to many to mention, looking for the forums best advice I would love to keep this car but not at the price for another car, also looking for a good place to purchase a Revup used engine if it comes to that!

What did the second opinion turn out to be? Rare to have a timing chain failure unless the VQ was severely abused or neglected.

I would find a good / trust worthy mechanic to put new timing chains on it. Might as well replace the primary, the guides, and the tensioner while youre at it ... likely a 10hr to 12hr job to get that far into the timing chain case but shizzle happens ...

assuming it's a DE Rev-up?? So it may be a little more seeing that the exh cam has variable valve timing.

I did a HR gallery gasket on a buddy's car and charged him 16hrs @ $100hr and the hardest part was to ensure timing didnt jump while I had the primary timing chain off the cogs - other than that it was simply a lot of unbolting/re-bolting items on the front of the car to get to the engine.

I treated her like a baby had her for more than 9 yrs. just added Bilsten shocks and Eibach springs and Hotchis sway bars plus exhaust a page of other premium bolt on's
I just got the news it was a cam chain I took it to a performance shop that works on Z's they quoted around $2000.00 pretty much out the door for the labor and fluids and anything else I might need except a engine I've been getting quotes for engines in the $3000.00 rage shipped with a lift not sure if I want to spend $5000.00 to bring her back to life while over the years pretty everything on her is brand new! Could use some good advise about right now!
If not a really sweet 2006 Z , will be for sale in Nashville Tn. needing a engine!

Don’t know if it’s an interference motor, probably is. A junkyard long block is probably your best bet.
