Cylinder not pressurizing / air leaking out oil pump pickup tube
Hiya Z Fam -
I'm currently doing cams / valve springs on my 03 DE. There's about 115K miles on this engine. I've got the top off the engine and am starting work on replacing the valve springs proper. I'm attempting to pressurize the cylinder with shop air to keep the valves up while I replace the springs. HOWEVER, the cylinders will not hold air. It appears the air is leaking out the oil pump pickup at the bottom of the engine. And its doing this for ALL cylinders, both banks. Is this ... expected? The interwebs says maybe I've got blown piston rings or blown head gaskets, but all cylinders / both gaskets? Am I missing something here?
** EDIT ** Nevermind, answered my own question. I notice in this video here
that his air is hissing the whole time also. So I just left my compressor running and it was able to keep the cylinder pressurized and valves up. All good. New springs are in!

(I know, I should have just gone FI. And I also know i can stuff the cylinders with paracord to keep the valves up, but now I'm concerned I have head gasket issues).
(( I'm mostly following https://my350z.com/forum/engine-driv...e-springs.html with some supplemental youtubing ))
