Default Engine failure on 2003 350Z, options?

So at 200,000 miles my sons engine is toas in his 2003 350Zt. Everything on this car has practically been replaced. Is a JDM engine worth trying or should I just dump the car. It's almost worthless at this point.Advice?

Whats the condition of the car? Is the car worth putting a new engine in?

Id just put a donor engine in it -

I’d get one from ebay or an engine re-seller that will offer a warranty. It’s not wildly difficult but if you dont have the resources/tools/time to do it yourself than just pay a private mechanic / private shop to do it.

Paint isn't the best but interior is nice. My concern is finding a good donor engine.

Do you (does your son) like the car?

Buy one from ebay and from a seller that offers a warranty on it … then get the engine installed and do a compression test on the engine.

Its wise to replace the following items during the install:

crankshaft position sensor
camshaft position sensors
spark plugs
fresh oil/filter
transmission fluid
clean the MAF sensor

That's all new that will go on the engine - the oil filter..

I dumped the car for 2k . I felt it wasn't worth investing anymore money in it. He bought this one with his own money from his Navy bonus. $13,500 50k original miles 2003 track.coupe 9.5 out 10. Black leather. Just a nice car.

this is up to you to decide, with the low price of a junkyard replacement engine, i dont see how it doesnt make sense to just swap one in. its an easy diy also.

a junkyard swap and what if the enginesis a pos? All that work for nothing. Plus I don't have time for an engine swap. If I were still at my old house where I had the space and equipment I would be easy. The car was worth 3k at most. I sold it for 2K He bought a manual 2003 Track edition 50K mile nice car for $13.500 already done,

owned by an older fellow such as myself. Nice thing,I t doesn't burn any oil!
