My Nismo GT LSD Pro review....
We installed the Nismo LSD @ about 7pm Friday night to get my car ready for the track on sat. It took about 2.5 hours with no major problems. It totally transformed the car( I have a base). I raced on Sat with the LSD set on 80% lock up... To sum up the noise it makes, the guy working the lanes at the track made a comment along the lines of (someone is going to break something today) I informed him it was just the rear..... Anyway, I ran a 13.6 as opposed to my previous 13.9... I also dropped my 60' down to a 1.98 from a 2.2... I did also have drag radials but the LSD deffinately helped..... This mod is not for he faint hearted, after the track, I switched it back to the low setting of 60%. For those that were wondering, even at 60% the rear is still pretty loud when turning at low speeds. Thenoise is the plates slipping which is normal but basicaly sounds like the rear is about to break.... I will dump the fluid this week and see if it gets less noisey over time... 100% needed for those with a base and for those with high hp cars....

From the sound of it you installed and raced it the next day without doing a break in, or did you do the figure eights? It's really important to break in a clutch type LSD. Kaaz's web site has some excellent info on how to break it in and why it's important.
http://www.kaazusa.com/inc/content_faq.asp#breakin
"The clutch plates do not fit perfectly from the very beginning, therefore this causes some jumping effect. Applying too much torque when the unit is new will cause damage to the clutch plates and may result in plates forming an angle fit."

I broke it in by doing figure 8's for about 10-15 mins and also by driving slow in circles to the left and then to the right to get even wear. I understand the importance of break in and I also plan on changing the fluid this week. As far as adjusting. For those of you with dual exhaust beware. Yes, normally you can put the car on a lift, unbolt the right 1/2 shaft, slide it out, and change the setting. All would NORMALLY take about 15 mins. HOWEVER, being that I have the Borla exhaust, you have to drop the exhaust to have enough room to drop the 1/2 shaft which takes longer than the adjustment itself. The whole job now takes about 45 mins instead of 15 but still easier than rearranging the plates inside....

After the break in on the diff, we've found changing the fluid with Redline 75W90 seems to quiet them up a bit. I can't even imagine driving my car anymore without the Nismo LSD in it. I keep mine at 80% now.... just like the attention when I'm driving around at low speeds.....

Jeff, you told me 15mins to adjust the setting, but you forgot to tell me thats after I beat my Borla off with a mallet and block of wood .... Overall its great. Looking to hopefully do more business with you and start installing these in NJ.. Night & Day difference.....Also, the factory backlash was @.007 when we took it apart and it went back in at .005..., not bad, but we thought we would blow the dust off the old dial indicator and check it anyway!.. One more thing, tell Nismo to put stronger glue on their stickers, I ruined one of them trying to attach it to my engine cover
Thanks,
Jason
Thanks,
Jason

Hey Chris, thanks for the last reply... I made the jump like you to the LSD. I hated the clunking noise but needed away to get the power down and its just as noisey as yours was!!! You got to call me to go down to the track. I ran a 13.49 this weekend and finished in 3rd place in the Street Modified class at Street Wars.

The Popcorn is ready! Would u like butter on that??? That is exactly what I call this thing, a popcorn maker..... I changed my fluid after a couple of days with Lucas synthetics and will do it again in a couple of weeks with redline... So far, after about 1000 miles, no sign of the popcorn ever going away.....

The noise is mainly at low speeds when turning. Its also worse when it is cold so I think it would be great on the track. The car feels alot better and more controllable around turns too....

im having a hard time interpreting how this sounds. can anyone make a video clip of either turning or poping popcorn?
so i suppose no one likes how this sounds? except maybe jeff...
also, would this lead to more consistent times stock or slightly modded? will this help a lot if im planning on installing 350EVO 3.9 Final Drive gears?

I don't have anytype of sound clip but I could probably hold my cell out of the window if you really want.... And yes, I think Jeff is the only one who really likes it. I am getting use to it and I am driving the car a liitle different now. I seem to push the clutch in more when making slow turns and also coasting more.... If you really want to hear it on the cell, than email with your # and I'll call u when I am in the car..
