Default AT or 6 spd?

I am about to get one of these, and I must ask,

Automatic or 6 speed?

My situation:

Over 30 years of age.
Don't mind automatics.
Do a lot of driving....hwy and city
Like manuals as well.
Do a lot of cell phone in the car for business.

Just want some opinions from experienced buyers.

I want a car that will retain as much of its value as possible.

I deep down feel an AT would make me want to ralf on a car like this, but I just wanted everyones opinion.

Thanks,

Dog

Over 30 years of age.
What does that have to do with anything?

Don't mind automatics.
Auto Sports car? nuff said

Do a lot of driving....hwy and city
More time in the Z

Like manuals as well.
6MT

Do a lot of cell phone in the car for business.
Hands free

I want a car that will retain as much of its value as possible.
Z has good resale value

I have owned both Z's the 5AT and the 6MT.
Traded my one week old 04 5AT Touring for an 04 TRACK

Driving wise The 6MT is a different animal.

If your a real Enthusiast who has that racing soul
you'll be tormented with the 5AT.

If you dont care about the Performance feeling you get
with the 6MT you cant go wrong with the 5AT. Smooth, steady,
quick acceleration.

Either way it's a Z

Good Luck

Test drove a 5AT, wasn't thrilled with it. Bought the 6MT, and I LOVE driving it.

And get a hands free set for that cell phone.

I'm on the phone all day, get a comfortable ear piece for your cell. I keep my phone in my lap cuz with the top down or music on I need it on vibrate.

get the 6mt and buy a good hands free headset or have your phone wired on a in car speaker phone system so you wont need to wear anything on your ear. Only thing is other drivers might think you are crazy talking to yourself.

It is apparent you know nothing about resale value.

It is also apparent that anyone that buys a car looking for a positive investment outcome is not very intelligent considering you lose 10% to 30% of your investment driving it off the lot. Would you buy a house that you knew would drop in value 30% after you moved in, and you knew for sure it will not likely go back up in value? If you want something for its resale value go into real estate . . . if you want the joy of owning a sports car then buy one! And if an automatic fits your lifestyle and needs more than a stick . . . who cares what some ******** think about it?

I bought a 350Z for the love of the car not for how much much I might get for it if I was crazy enough to sell it. I plan on owning this car for a very long time so I have no concern about what somebody else thinks its worth. All that matters is what I feel the car is worth to me and what I get out of it.

I own a 5AT and honestly have zero regrets . . . I don't need a stick to grab onto to truly enjoy my sports car.

I hope you dont think a auto 911 will out sale a manual 911. And lets not talk about the horsepower difference betwen a auto Z and a 6MT Z.

LOL, your talking about a $130,000 car, and comparing resale values? If you got that kind of money who really cares what you can sell it for? Why would you buy it in the first place if you just wanted to sell it? Like I said, I could care less about resale value of a car . . . thats not why you would buy one and if it is you are insane. The horsepower difference??? Dynos have shown there to be less than a 10rwhp difference between the models on average. Which is not enough for most people to really care . . . especially if you are going to mod it.

But to get back on topic, dogma420, simply go out and test drive both of them. If you feel you need this so called "ultimate control" over the car with a stick then by all means get it, theres nothing wrong with them! That is obviously what fits for you, but if you want very good control of gear shifts but also have the option to simply forget about shifting and just drive the car then get an AT. The performance differences are minimal and I doubt you'll have any less enjoyment out of it.

Now if your gonna track the car for autocross, don't even look at the AT . . . the 6 speed is what you need, but for normal everyday driving the AT is awesome.

As far as cars in our category the Z has been shown to have great resale value, although if thats really a concern I think your looking at the wrong kind of car.

As for the cell phone thing . . . PLEASE get a handsfree headset whether you buy an AT or 6 Speed!

Just get out there and drive them both and see what you like, its the only way your gonna figure it out.

6MT all the F'in way, And u can get brain with a stick, just gotta take it in strides ya know, the whole point of this car is to get em home faster, not to get blown in the car hense the 2 seater effect. They only make the autos for those who cant drive a stick, cuz at that point when u have the auto ur going for looks and not performance. I enjoy having both, but maybe im just a crazy as$hole like the others on this site. I talk on my cell phone all the time without a handsfree set, when u gotta shift hold the phone by your head and shoulders, simple man. 6MT, F the autos man, takes the fun outta life, o yea and Veddic Jack this.

I **** on .. Auto's
