There is no such thing as a detonation sensor. If you have sensed detonation you are too late! I think thast you may be referring to the Knock Sensor, which is near the crank.

Yeah knock is a layman term for detonation. Excessive detonation leads to engine failure. The term refers to fuel, not to the engine itself.

Knock and detontation are two different things? Please explain your conversation with JWT in more detail

Knock is a sound that detonation can make. Ping is also a sound that detonation can make. Detonation is not always audible. Mild or occasional detonation can occur in almost any engine and usually causes no harm. Prolonged or heavy detonation is what can damage the engine.

For all intensive purposes, you can use Knock and Detonation interchangeably. If you had to pick a single term to use, use detonation. It refers to every type of combustion problem that can damage an engine.

Here is a good article about all the different type of detonation. http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/PICS/detonation/detonation.html

GTXJOE ,

Thanks for that informative article . That's a piece everyone should read before " modding" their engine .

Alex ,

I think you and joe are talking about the same thing . I spoke to JWT in reference to anything that would or could affect the Popcharger's performance and Ben said the Detonation Sensor if malfunctioning could affect the induction sound made with the help of the Popcharger as well as demonstrate a loss of power if not working properly .
