mods in a 5at z
i hava the 5at touring Z. i ordered the nismo exhaust and am thinking about the pop charger as well. will the tranny handle that power? i know it wont be that much more hp but still wonder. and also is the pop charger easy to install? if i have to bring it to the dealer i want to be able to take it off fast and easy as not to void the warranty.

Don't worry about the tranny, it can handle the power. As for the install of the popcharger should be very easy, I'd say it's about an 30min to 1 hour job max. Goodluck

at best any exhaust/intake combo is gonna gain 20 hp at best, so your talking about 250 hp tops. the stock 5at tranny can handle in upwards of 400 hp at the wheels without any trouble. so you can add every mod you can get your hands on, with the exception of forced induction/nitrous, and still never come close to what the tranny can handle.

the stock tranny can handle the power easily with no upgrades done on that?

while driving "normal" around town, what is the proper rpms that i should shift at in manual mode. my gas mileage sucks. i was looking at another thread and they were claiming like 17 mpg and were saying that that was bad. i get like 14.5. but i live in ny and i think that may have something to do with it. i shift at like 3000 to 3200 rpms. is that too high?

lemieux- its much more then an addition of 120 hp...a stock at z is probably dynoing in around 220-230, and he's come damn near well doubling it (remember, we're talking rwhp, not flywheel hp, bhp). As for efficient gas mileage, sub 4k rpms will do it

i have about 3600 miles on it. i live on long island ny and there is almost always traffic. i think that has a lot to do with it. it sucks because gas around by me is like 2.05 a gallon and climbing. thats the price you have to pay for this amazing machine and its well worth it.

$2.05 a gallon!!! thats cheap. we have to pay around $2.49 a gallon here in san francisco. and they say it'll hit $3 in summer.

You either spend alot on "trying" to build a decent N/A monster or just scrounge up teh cash and go FI. Theres already a 5AT Greddy TT which is pretty exciting to hear about.
