Default which model z to buy?

I'm considering getting the z but I was wondering if it's better to have vdc or not...? I'm planning on modifying the suspension and I don't want vdc to interfere? I notice the nismo suspension kit is for non-vdc equipped car...why??

Thanks

I would look at getting a performance model. If you plan on upgrading anything in the car, you will probably replace stuff that you will get if you buy a touring or track model (brakes, rims, seats, stereo, etc.) And with the performance you get VDC, HIDs and tire pressure sensors to start with over the base and enthusiast models. Just a thought.

Default bad dealer experience...

I went to go check out the z and wanted to test drive one. The salesman told me that I couldn't test drive the car because customer's are very picky with the mileage on the car. He asked me if I was going to buy the car...like I have to make that decision before I even drive the car and asked me how old I was...He then offered me to take me for a test drive after he saw my car. Anyways...this is very discouraging...I can just imagine when I take the car for service.

I currently drive a fully loaded 6mt g35 sedan...the service at infiniti is great. Since I couldn't drive the z...I went to go drive the g coupe instead...I might just get the g coupe instead of the z although I like the z better. The dealer I went to was Bill Kay in Illinois. Sorry for the long post.

Depends on what you want.

If you're heavy into mods and want to do it all, get the Enthusiast (HIDs, TCS and LSD); if you mod the suspension, you don't want VDC.

If you want to stick with basic mods (bolt-ons and body kits), get the Performance.

If you want factory leather and Bose, get the Touring.

If you want out-of-the-box performance that you don't want to mess much with (basically really cool brakes and the poser factor of having a Track), get the track.

Not true, I have a track model and NISMO S-Tune with NO problems......ask any of the vendors about the issue.

I only got my track because I got an exceptional deal on it and I didn't want leather. I was looking at a performance, but the price was like 1500 less than the track!!!! It all depends on timing and dealer stock and which you can get the best deal on; in my dimented opinion.

Ok, ok, I apologize. Perhaps it would have been better stated as the bling factor of having a track. I do love those Brembos (had 'em on my 6MT G35c), but was it ever determined if the Track had any difference in suspension over the other models, or are the brakes the only difference?

As for the suspension mods, I'll admit I haven't looked into it much, but wherever I see the Nismo S-Tune suspension package advertised, it says it's not for use on cars with VDC. What's the story with that?

I believe, if I remember correctly, that when they initially tested the S-Tune suspension, they only did so on non-VDC equipped vehicles and none with VDC. Why? I don't know as I do not work for Nissan. Shortly after release, people started wondering the very same thing you are and the situation was re-evaluated, from what I gather and still conflicting information came out: some were saying that you could only use on VCD-equipped vehicles if they had the ENTIRE NISMO suspension package including suspension, sways, and wheels!!!! Anyway, I followed this before purchasing my S-Tune and then something came out saying that it was ok......my local dealer has not given me any problems, in fact, they are re-doing my alignment for free with the S-Tune on it because after installing, the place I took it to could not align it properly. But that is a whole different discussion. So, there ya go, I may not be exact about all of it, but the main concept is clear......S-Tune with VDC is OK.

Good Luck!!
