Default Anybody with after market cams

Are these worth the $$? How much horsepower is usually gained by changing these? Is idle affected? How much usually for install?
Thanks

On a stock motor, with NOTHING else... less than 10.

With the right combo of headers, cats/test-pipes, exhaust, plenum... 30+.

Any other questions?

Ha Ha I would LOVE to see where you get 30 HP Gain on just the cams..

Wait now that I look at it you mean with ALL the mods.. LOL I would say thats about right for peak HP and a lil higher number around redline..

Personally I dont see any real proof of any real gains with the cams. But then again im not a good test as I didnt change them..

mjedens was dynoing low 260s with all the bolt-ons... after dropping in the Tomei 268s (granted he went .20 over, for what LITTLE that will gain) and nailed 295.

Evidence enough?

What was more interesting, is when he yanked the NISMO headers and went to the Crawfords. Average gain was 30ish ft-lbs down low... spiking at 42 ft-lbs... then around 4500 (I believe) up he averaged a 9 ft-lb gain.

Amazing how headers can compliment cams!!!

Bottomline, his 268s are BADAZZ... and the few other cars I've witnessed with cams didn't touch them.

In driving Mike's car... when it hits 4k RPM it will BREAK his 275s loose. Yes, I said... from a roll with traction... then stomping on it with traction... hitting 4k under full throttle BREAKS the tires loose. It is a BADAZZ car - CERTAINLY worth it!

How much would you expect to have to pay for install?

So why dont you have them on your car or are you holding out for FI?
Lets see your sig says your @ 252 NA so does that mean you would be @ 282 with your mods?

There are a couple of drag video's in the "video forum"! Go to the thread titled "March 14: Silverdollar Raceway" and scroll down about 15 replies and you'll see 5 or 6 video's put up by Richard! There are NA and n2o runs!

Here's my list "prior" to the latest round of JWT Cams/Pop charger and tuning by T/S. Still need to dyno the new set up now that it's tuned properly.......

232hp/227tq Stock
249hp/237tq Nismo Cams, Nismo CAI, Nismo Headers
268hp/257tq RT Cat's, Nismo Exhaust

As you can see... the cams need to breathe!!!!

Before you by the cams, please read the write-up in the new sport copact mag. It gives some good insite to the z that they did up with all the nismo gear (including nismo cams). after 20-30 grand in upgrades, they only got 10+ horsepower (or something like that).

Please also note they had NO CLUE how to dyno the Z and found it wasn't even warmed up when they dyno'd.

As for $20k in upgrades?????? Try MAYBE $6k.
