I recieved mine earlier today(friday) and got it installed. Shifts good. One thing I notice is when the rpm's go above 4k the shifter makes a wierd noise. I also noticed it on the freeway. I think it may be the rev. pin tapping the plate when in 5th & 6th gear. Anyone else have this problen. If so how do I fix it?

Go to www.zchickz.com see their short shifter setup on the reverse pin.......its not a b&g but its the same theory or reinstalling. might work it had a part about making sure 5th and 6th gears had clearance .........tell me what happens,,,, I want a b&g

Default just my 2 cents

i have the 1st production shifter in my car the only noise i get from it is when you push it hard into the gate example( when you power shift say into 3rd gear had hold it frimly against the stop and dont relax your hand other wise i have 0 noise or vibration comming from it) the noise or vibration from the shifter is transmited from the transmission and when you hold it frimly against the stop you can fell it slighty. the cause is from using Orings to connect the 2 pieces of the shifter together.
you get a much more postive fell with Orings instead of a big hunk of rubber between the lower and upper shaft .
but as far as i fell it is a great shifter. and it will not come apart no matter how hard you push or pull
i hope this helps some people out there

Default thanks !!!!

Tony.. thanks so much for posting. This is going to help a lot of people including myself.. A couple of questions..

1/ Just to confirm...

a/ A blue mounting plate comes with the new short shifter...

b/ The original stock plate will then be placed over the blue plate and screwed on with the new M6 bolts ... correct ? At least that is what I understand from the instructions.... step 15

2/ You have to file a little on the shifter casing ..

The 0.125" filing points on the upper left hand side ... question...

From the upper left 90 degree angle.. how many inches to the right and -- how many inches down should this be filing be done ?

thanks...

Hey Whats UP Tony,

I never said I did not like the shifter. I actully love it. You were there when I drove your car. I just did not like the vibration noise on the shifter.

Are you at the MEET? Today.

I think the rattle is coming from the shift ****. What would the reason be for this?

Maybe not. I can't figure it out and it's kinda driving me crazy. I like the way iot shifts, but for $200, I'm not sure the noise is worth it.

Wasn't there a RE shifter install thread where someone had a buzzy ****? Maybe the camfered spacer vibrating? IIRC, he simply removed **** and re-tightened, no more buzz.
