I hope someone can help me out with this one, but it doesn't seem that anyone knows or cares to answer....

Are there built in stops on this shifter? I am looking all over for a shifter that has built in stops, but none of them seem to.

As far as the B&M Shifter goes it is unproven and could (just like any other thing Short Throw Shifter) cause syncro problems... hope this isn't the case.

Yikes ... I got the short shifter -- now I am getting cold feet.

-- What would be the worst case scenario if the shifter did cause syncro problems ?

-- I don't have a lot of previous knowledge regarding short shifters -- but short shifters causing syncro problems .. does this happen often ?

thanks

A lot of people with the B15 B&M shifter raved and gave great reviews but then they started dropping like flies. It seems like one would break every other day.
I've done a quick search of B15 forums but found no widespread problem posts. Can you elaborate on the specifics or throw up a link please?

I was under the assumption that most modern MT transmissions already have internal gear stops. If you have a tranny with internal stops and a shifter with adjustable stops, I believe you are supposed to back the shifter stops all the way out - in essence, making them unnecessary. Supposedly, you can even do damage to your internal stop transmission by misadjusting the stops on an adjustable shifter. Unfortunately, I am missing ESM section C (2004 G35 Sedan - hint, anybody?) so I can't take a look inside. Maybe someone else can confirm?

Hmm, I don't know any transmissions that have stops built in. granted, I am coming from a Mustang background and none of them have built in stops which made it a necessity when buying an aftermarket shifter. My first Mustang tranny lasted 20K miles until I got an aftermarket shifter with stops, then it lasted 120K and was working great until it was sold!

I want a short shifter but can't decide btw b&m and the new rogue, which has a longer throw and costs $80 more. Any thoughts? Regrets? Comments?

So which one is the best to get B&M or Rogue? And what are syncro problems?

Syncro Problems are what happens when your Syncro gears get screwed up from Either racing or Bad tranny, where you shift and the gate does not open up and if you try to force it in the gate then it grinds like crazy, in the process of getting a tranny Swap if my dealer will stop messing with me...

I am not going to put a long post here on this. It is very simple, save yourself the problems and don't get a B&M, get a Rogue. B&M is a POS. Please read this thread on the B&M and look at the pictures:

Not here to grind an axe, but my experience with the B&M ended bad too. Scroll down this thread to find my full review.

My G35 **** height was reduced from approximately 4-3/8” to 4” after installation of the B&M short shifter. Is that what you're asking? BTW, this pic from the link 2 posts above yours...
