Default installed b&m short throw shifter

man this is the absolute best 200 dollars i have spent!!!!!!!!
they say it reduces the throw by 30% but i swear it seems like more....its almost just flicking your wrist to shift gears....put together well and it is great......shifts are very precise and crisp!!!!

thanks alot b&m

All right, Melissa !!!! That's the music & feedback I was hoping to hear.

1/ Just like ypwpat asked .. how's the vibration from idle through the RPM range ? Any noise ?

2/ Just checking .. the stock plate goes over the blue mounting plate that comes with the shifter -- correct ?

3/ When you filed 0.125" off the upper and upper left side of the shifter casing... how many inches from the upper left corner ?

Thanks... can't wait to get this installed !

no pics sorry...i was in a rush...was installing kinetix plenum and zex wet n2o kit also.....so i had to move fast.......

now as for the other questions

i get absolutely no vibration at any point in the rpms or idle....

no noise at all

stock plate goes ove blue one yes...now got to be carefull here....best thing to do when tightening down is put in fifth gear and slide factory plate towards the shifter til it stops..then tighten down...if you dont do this the shifter will go past fifth and sith and youll have trouble fing fifth ...also it will go into reverse without pushing down if you dont......

now for the filing....the whole oening in the shifter cup is only about 1 1/2 x 2 inches....i just filed with a hand file all the way down the left side of it to insure i didnt have to pull it apart again and refile....i also did about 1/4 inch instead of an 1/8th for the same reason.....took all of 5 minutes to file........

let me know if you have any other questions

I get a wierd vibrating noise and can't seem to figure it out. Only around 4000k and I also get a wierd noise when shifting. don't notice any vibration though. I thought it was excess grease around the black piece, but I tremoved it all. Then iI noticed some kind of fluid around the ball that goes into the gold color ball. If anyone has any ideas please help me out.

Thanks,

Matt

Filing? What's up with the filing? Are you filing the oem top plate, new blue top plate, new pivot cup or what?

No ... not the stock plate .. not the new blue plate...

After removing the stock shifter -- you have to file down the opening ... which is the hole in the shifter casing...

I'd like to see how this holds up in the long run. A lot of people with the B15 B&M shifter raved and gave great reviews but then they started dropping like flies. It seems like one would break every other day. Please keep us posted.

I installed mine took me about an hour. Went for a test drive. It is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!
Second gear is right there. You do have to get used to it. I think it's different from the stock one. Best 200 I spent.

When you install the shift **** back easy with the threads on the new one because there very softand I stripped mine and had to rethread it. But no vibration or nothing.
I will get some pictures it looks sweat. New leather bag and the short titanium ****.

well sounds great....with the shorter throws is there any more of a chance of mis-shift?

i think the stock setup is great but if it can be improved and the gears are as easy to find i would go for some shorter throws...

Good luck getting any power. Just remember any mod done to your car doesn't just magically void the warranty. FI of course would and CAMs may IF they can link the problem directly to the part which you have modified.

As far as the B&M Shifter goes it is unproven and could (just like any other thing Short Throw Shifter) cause syncro problems... hope this isn't the case.
