I dumped my girlfriend, and that accounted for around 115 pounds!!! I notice this the most, especially in the butt dyno (no more *** chewings) and the best part is that I actually SAVE money now!!!!!!

the best power I felt and then saw actually help on the dyno was the kinetix plenum. HANDS DOWN!
the cats help, the pulleys help, intake - a bit at best, exhaust made it feel better, but I have to say plenum was definitely the number 1 gain. I would say that the number two gain was a tie between the TS ECU flash and the Kinetix hi-flow cats!
thats just my .02!

all_bark: Yeah I had the plenum in mind. Besides the mods that aid in power transfer (final drive, flywheel, pullys), the plenum was going to be my guess for biggest increase.

I paid like $120 for the jwt popcharger. It made my car SOUND unbelievable. You pick up a little butt dyno in the upper RPMs, not much down low, but if your only buying one mod, I would look into it.
If you're only buying ONE mod, you won't be able to feel the difference between a catback -$650+, and an intake -$120+. Exhaust is tough to hear in the cabin, but the intake is not. Sounds like you are in a race car.
Underdrive pulley -you can feel the faster revs, and the added power, no sound though. I felt more power with that than with exhaust and intake. It costs around $220 and you can do it yourself in an hour. Awesome cost-per-butthp.
I don't have the plenum yet, but it is my next mod. I'm just waiting until there are no more "my plenum cracked" posts.
I race my car in the upper end of the power band, where you are going to get the best results from your mods, and 5 to 10 hp comes no where close to comparison of how well the car sounds.
$120 will put a huge grin on your face.

Start driving on race tires (Toyo RA-1, Kumho V700, Pilot Sport Cups, etc).
You'll pull 1.2+ lateral G's and be able to accelerate off the corner much better (or in a straight line if that's your thing)
Of course, your tires won't last too long, and you'll have a hard time in standing water, but that's the price of performance.
-D'oh!

I am not mechanically inclined by any manor. I have been reading that the kinetix plenum can be installed pretty easily and is a great 1st mod for hp. This can be done on an auto too right?

You can certainly do the POPcharger as well. It's a very simple modification and only needs a little time with some hand tools.
Another easy mod for you is the grounding kit.
Of course none of these give a ton of horsies, but it could be very fun for you to work on your car.
After pulling an engine on a 300zx, something like a plenum just isn't too daunting!
(Now, where'd that motor get to!?)

I have no experience in working with cars. I don't have any tools as well. With this in mind, how hard would it be for me to change to the following:
1) Plenum (Kinetix)
2) JWT Popcharger
3) UD Pulleys
Will I be better off hiring somebody to do the work? How much will labor cost? I am also thinking of changing to hi-flow cats but will probably need to go to a shop. Can anyone recommend a good shop in the Bay Area?
Thanks,
Baron

DO NOT HIRE SOMEONE TO DO ANY OF THOSE!!!!
1. plenum- under 2 hours ??
2. popcharger- under 30 minutes
3. pulley- under 1 hour
It it is pretty cut and dry. Spend the money you saved paying someone to install on more mods!

I would start with Kinetix Plenum. They have just started releasing and shipping the V3. The difference between V1 and V3 is like night and day. Then consider JWT Pop Charger, "Max Ground System" from Z-Enterprises, Borla Exhaust and RT High Flow Cats.
