Default V3 Installed

Just got done installing the Kenetix V3 Plenum. Everything went pretty smooth with no problems. That's hardley ever the case for me, always a little something not just right that I have to alter/fix whatever. Not the case here. Bolted it in sealed up the first time and I didn't even use any Permatex. NO cracking, wooohooo!! I did leave the stock gasket on. Sounds real nice, I'm letting the car idle as I type this and am about to got out on a test drive.

How was the test drive? Did you have the kinetix V2 or is this your first plenum?

Test drive went great. Sounds real nice and you can definatly feel that it's there. The V3 is my first plenum.

Has anyone asked kintex if they are still going to make the metal plenum with runners for FI applications?? Just wondering.

I also wonder about your strut bar, did you take it off for a reason??

I believe I read a post where Kinetix felt that by strengthening their plenum, it would be OK for FI. I guess that depends on how much "boost" we are talking about. I currently have the V1 and will install V3 within days. Within weeks, will install Vortech SC with psi in the 6-8 range.

The strut bar comes off to install the plenum. I would assume it will go back on once "ZU L8R" is assured no problems exist.

The word from lsdunique when I asked was that it should be fine to 10psi

Wow, thanks Chris. Were these sounds clips of the Kinetix plenum alone or with all of your mods? BTW, your car sounds AWESOME!

Just installed my V3 plenum as well, since im not mechanically inclined it was a marathon for me. The hardest part was getting the bolts off the throttle body, man that was a *****!
Had some problems alligning the bolts since I had some bad luck the 2 screws holding the stock plenum was a 2 piece with only the head coming off but the bolt staying onto the hole.
And also, reading Chris's instruction it says to use the 3 brass fittings into the plenum where the arrows are indicated but i didnt recieve those. Here's a pic of that

Will that make a difference, i did notice that those lines do not really allign to anything below so is it safe to say even leaving those unbolted will make any diffference or air leaks?
My other question is I didnt have any bolts that fits flush with the 3rd hole on the plenum on the right hand corner close to the throttle body. Refer to the picture above (the hole right above the "X" in Kinetix) It goes in but there's still a gap around the bolt not covering everything up.Should I be worried about this and does that bolt actually screw into anything below the bottom plenum or does that just act to cover up the hole. Any advice would be appreciate thanks.

Those sound clips were with the Plenum, U/R Pulleys, and Grounding kit. Only the Plenum makes noise though.

jabroney12,

Sorry for the confusion. When I created the instructions, it was with the V1 KINETIX plenum. All newer versions do not require you to install the brass threads so you can disregard that part. As for the other question about the bolt near the throttle body. It does need to be tightened down to create a good seal around the plenum. If you can, go to a Home Depot or similar store and get a washer that will go around the bolt and also some Permatex Gasket Maker around the perimeter of the plenum wouldn't hurt either to seal the plenum well when all the bolts are tightened down.

Does V3 have the same noise as V1 and V2? meaning around 2700-3000 rpm, is it noticeable?

I know most ppl like the sound, but I kinda like it more quieter... just want the power, not the extra sound..

Yeah, all the KINETIX plenums have the distinct "growl" sound. It's definitely noticible. The performance gains from the KINETIX are great, but if you are looking for quiet, I'd go with a Crawford. They sound no different than stock.

Installed my V3 plenum last night.......the fit was a bit snug, but sits nicely when everything is bolted down. I had a V2 that cracked and was immediately shipped out. So far, so good. The idle is great now. My only concern is the one long bolt by the TB....I think I will just elevate the bolt with washers to get a snug fit.
