Vortech belt...when to tighten..cold or hot

OK...after about 500 miles my belt is starting to losen up . I can turn it more than half way and it has about a half inch of play .Should I tighten it when its cold or hot ? Or doesnt it make i diff. ? THANKS

I say tighten cold--otherwise you risk burning yourself when you reach in to loosen the nut on the front of the idler pulley
