Default clutch stuck to ground

I was racing a friends vette and i put my car in first...launched it ..released clutch only the clutch was stuck to the ground and the rev was stuck at 5 grand ..i then tried to throw it in neutral and the clutch was still stuck and the rpm was still on 5 grand...i started panicing ...wtf was going on..never seen this before ...finally the clutch loosened up and i was able to shift again...but i got that smell of a burning clutch..the only thing i could think of is.>WTF ...how ..what and puzzled....car has 2k miles on it..before hand i was driving on the highway like a grandma...so no other burn outs before hand...weird eh? it never redlined....

my guess would be that you have welded the clutch to the flywheel. At what RPM did you drop the clutch?

5k rpms is very hard on your stock clutch, try to keep it below 4k on the launch next time, hope everything is all right

Possible problems with a faulty release bearing assembly. Check with the dealer.....but don't tell them what you were doing when it jammed up.

Your clutch is "sticking", next time just pull it off the floor with your foot. My TA started to do that after I got a lot of power with the stock cluch. Meaning I was slowly burning it out.

With only 2K miles I would take it to the dealer and see what they say. You didnt happen to buy it used did you?

Default Sticky clutch pedal

I had the same thing happen twice over the first year I had my Z. Hasn't happened recently. I had a thread on this back some time ago. The verdict was that it was most likely a throw out bearing. Don't think I dumped the clutch at much more than 3K either time....never have. Alls good for now so no trip to the dealer. It does stink like hell for a few days

well i drove it for about 20 miles after that....stoped at a gas station and the smell was horrible....you could smell it from the wheel well ....and about 10 feet from the car.... i did try to move the clutch with my foot..but it came out slowly...thats when it poped out after 5 secs.....i bought the car brand new...probably one of the first times i ever tried to launch the car hardcore..well look at my opposition I just now put my car on a 24 hour rest..lol IF it does it again i am def. taking it back to nissan for complaint....

my jwt did the same thing sort of right after i installed it. i was just practicing after i first put it in on a side road, pegged it to about 5500 rpms and dropped it, clutch stuck and the car didnt move but i smelled something nasty, immediately let off the gas and it stopped and the clutch came up. smelled bad the rest of the day, then never happened again.

But why did it continue to rev if his foot was off the gas pedal? I don't understand how that could happen.

I know this stuff happens all the time, but I cannot believe how many Z owners just beat the sh*t out of their $30,000 cars. Driving fast is one thing - welding your clutch to the flywheel or whatever may have happened - But I just realized something - are all of you doing this 17 years old? I know - I'm a tightass. I still say it's a bit mind boggling to use a new Z as a beater. But, I'm a dull boy I suppose. Now...flame away...

And I'm the only one here who thinks this way?

kinda hard to find the balance, WP. i like to be gentle with my Z most of the time too. on the other hand, i bought the car to drive it.... just gotta find a safe, common sense balance, i guess.
