Default Z1 350 Project Car Dyno sheet(s)

We finally got around to installing our Vortech SC this past weekend. The dyno chart below is from our '04 Enthusiest model project car. All runs were performed in house on our DynoJet 224X.

The three runs include our stock baseline, first untuned Vortech run and untuned Vortech with our Z1 intercooler spray. As you can see the A/F on the untuned Vortech is very rich and there was no detonation on any of the runs. Stay tuned for more posts as our tuning begins ...

455hp is pretty damn nice! Could you provide some details?
How much boost? Exhaust? etc.....
Congrats

455rwhp IS very impressive....the untuned vortech dyno seems right in line to where I've seen Zs w/ Vortech has been putting out on the dyno...is the 'spray' referring to nos? ~155rwhp increase is impressive...details please..
Thanks.

I'm guessing the spray is to get a cooler air charge for the intercooler. A few folks at TT.Net were doing this with good results.

Nice numbers, probably should be in the forced induction section. Getting close to 150 rwhp out of the spray is a huge feat. How much does it cost and how difficult is the install?? Is it just as useful for TTs?? I am assuming you are using the stock boost for the vortech with that untuned reading of 308rwhp.

Also, if you tune with the spray, that could put you over 500rwhp, are you worried about the strength of the engine?? Is the "spray" nos, and if so what shot is it??

Have you modified the fuel and engine internals? Others have blown their engines at 440 rwhp to 450rwhp (weak rods) without modifying the internals with perfect A/F ratios. Whats your secret?

I'm assuming you have the 9lbs pulley with cams.

I just spoke with Z1. The car is totally stock except for the Vortech kit and has about 2000 miles on it. As you can see (and as we've seen with other Vortech installs), the SplitSecond box is tuned WAY too rich out of the box.

The reason for such a drastic increase in power is due at least in part to nitrous oxide from the intercooler sprayer finding its way into the intake (i.e. a dry shot). As you can see, the Vortech is tuned rich enough that even with the dry shot it's still on the rich side.

As other tuning shops have done, it sounds as though Z1 is planning to test the limits of the VQ to see what the weakest link is.

I spoke to Z1 today and Zimbo's post above is correct. The motor is completely stock except for the Vortech (regular pulley) and the N20 IC spray. If you look at the dyno its basically an untuned (pig rich) Vortech plus big dry shot of N20 finding its way into the intake filter. They don't plan on spraying so much after they tune the Vortech.

Also, they are working on a forged piston design with Wiseco and a sleeve to semi-close the block. Should be some interesting things to come from Z1.

Woooo!!! Nice job Russell, John, and Team!!

I Talked to Z1 about this car today when I picked up my car after they installed my fuel solution, incredible numbers!!

I cannot wait to get my Timing Harness so you guys can put out similar numbers with my car.

Let me know if you need a guinea pig for the built motor you guys are coming up with. I would be willing to * help *

Thanks,
Matthew

haa N20 is scary when uncontrolled like that, at least it was running rich but damn N20 and Supercharger thats scary, hah they must be spraying a lot though those intercooler louvers to get it to saturate the intake air supply dang PSSSSHHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHHSHSHS NO ! ODnt do it HE's got a hundred grand underneath that hood!!!!!!!

if they tune it they can still get 400 to the wheels wiht out N20 spray but then to cool it donw n20 spray is nice so they must find a way to keep it from gettin into the intake? hhhmm hard.

i am curious as to what portion of the power increase is a result of the cooler intake charge, and what portion of the NOS is finding its way into the intake track.

I thought you just blast the intercooler once for several seconds prior to the run.....what's the deal?
