Default Ur Crank Pulley Noise Question

has anyone noticed any noise after the installation of the Unorthodox Racing crank pulley? it sounds like a constant squeaking belt noise. this is not the standard belt squeak, as i have my belts nice and tight.

the noise is very, very slight, but there was absolutely no noise at all with the stock pulley. you really have to listen for it, and it is nothing alarming, but i am curious to know if the noise is a characteristic of the pulley or something else.

also, when i turn on my A/C, the compressor is pretty loud, so it could just be the bearings in the A/C pulley spinning when it is off?

sorry for the rambling, but if anyone has a comment, or an opinion, please let me know.

Thanks!!

An earlier thread on U/R pulleys discussed the need for the rubber (damper) on the stock pulley..I believe the consensus of opinion on the need for this damper is to reduce/eleminate noise generated by the belts that are on this pulley..Kinda like a high frequency low volume ringing sound. Perhaps that is what you are hearing..The thread was a debate about whether the stock pulley/rubber was needed to provide harmonic balance for the engine. After much debate (that may still be going on )the most logical explaination for the rubber (for me ) is for it to dampen noise..

Try tightening your belt. I had a squeaking noise on cold starts, but once I got my belt tightened it went away. Never hurts to try.

I have not had any problems with mine other than the belt squeaking, and that was an easy fix...

a high frequency, low volume noise is a perfect explanation. that must be it.

as long as i can prove (read: rationalize) that this noise is simply from the omition of the dampener, and not something more serious, i guess i am content.

thanks!
