Default Know of any rear end gears for our car?

I was just curious if there was anyone that made aftermarket rear end gears for the Z? If so, who, how much and does anyone have some on their car? Thanks

what are you looking for? The same differential (R-200) has been in use since the mid 70s 280Z. While the axle mates and rear covers are a little different, all the internals are swappable with lots of gear combos.

You positive about this 2k3z? I was going to try and look into that quite a long time ago, I was hoping to get a 4.4 or 5.10 out of one and see if it was swappable. Mate that with the nismo LSD, would be a perfect combination for acceleration . But i havent yet had the opportunity to try, so if you can verify that that would be great.

I'm positive we have an R-200, as do the previous generations. The cases are a little different, and I haven't done a swap, but it should be no problem at all. I know its commonly done with previous generations.

Any chance you can make a taller drive gear? My gears are too short for F/I and good 1/4 mile times. Too much shifting!

I put the 6mt FD into my 5at. IMO it's worth it. Improved acceleration can definitely be felt. It's not an enormous change but still better than any other mod i have so far. If you can find a 6mt owner who is willing to switch, go for it.

and to add to shinz... for turbo'd 6MT 350's the 5AT rear end is super sweet... gets more usable power to the ground, not to mention better gas milage on the highway (when not boosting, of course!)

This is one of the things I will be doing. What kind of gas mileage are you getting now in town and on highway? Also, does your cruise control still work fine?

I didnt really notice much change in gas mileage but then again, i wasnt really looking for it. For sure mpg suffers because it revs higher/faster with less effort. On the highway, the rpm is a bit higher than it was before as well. Im not sure about cruise control because i never use it, i can check for you but im on vacation right now so it wont be for a couple weeks.

Default speedo

If you change the FD in the Z/G , how does one go about a speedo recal. ECU reflash? etc?

The speeds are taken at the 4 wheel speed sensors.

It Does NOT effect the speedo.

dwnshift,

What was the problem you ran into when you first tried to adapt old generation Z FDs for the 350Z?
