Default Are you happy with your Random Tech Cat's?

How long have you had them?
Noticeable power upgrade?
Any Rasp?
Anyone tried to pass smog?

Also, does anyone know the diameter of the piping they use?

Thanks,

C

Do a search, you'll find that many owners of the R/Ts have had them blow out.

I have put a couple thousand on mine and so far They are working great. They are basicly the best flowing besides straight pipes.

I've had the RT Cats on for about 10,000 miles. No problems. I like the power gain and I like the slight rasp.

Had mine since Sept last year. No problems but I've only got 4K on the car. I ALWAYS warm up my car before driving and beating on it. My car also passes smog (at the sniffer) with cams, cats, etc. These are very clean running engines. I even have the T/S ECU and run the car on the rich side as well.

I have had my cats for about 3 months (2000 miles) (its summer cmon i gotta drive!!!

not a noticeable power upgrade, feel wise, but i raced my friend who has the exact same mods as i do - the cats from 60-100, and pulled on him like crazy (he used to beat me) so yes they did give a noticeable boost in power, even though i really couldent feel it at first.

as for the rasp, yes there is some when they are cold, but once they heat up, they sound great. when you get wot they scream and sound really nice maybe a little rasp but nothing bad, believe me i hate raspy **** but i love these.

havent had to pass smog yet.

my cats are still running stong because i heat them up properly before driving. we used to have a ferrari which had to be heated up 5 minutes before it was driven, i treat my z the same way and have had none of the problems (knock on wood) that people have with rt cats. no revving while cold, no cold driving, and if i do rev the car out i give it a nice cool down, basically i dont go wot then park the car.

the ceramic wafer inside gets saturated with fuel and slowly rots, eventually it comes loose and clogs the pipes, this i guess happens on all cats which is why our z manual says to heat the car up for at least 30 seconds before driving it, even if the engine says its warm, because the exhaust is one of the first things to cool off probably because of its hollow nature and location on the vehicle (in the shade, under the car etc)

Easily fixed! There is a shim kit available for that problem. PM Jason@Performance and he'll help you out.
