Flowmaster muffler, part #42583. Had the exhaust shop cut my oem muffler and replace just the muffler with this. Most exhausts out for the Z don't make a whole lot of power to begin with, so I couldn't justify (or afford) spending $600+ for 10hp and sound change... instead I paid $150 for maybe 5hp and sound change. Y-pipe is next, then I'm done with engine mods for a while.

Other mods I have that have caused the sound change:
JWT Popcharger
Crawford v5 Plenum
Kinetix High Flow Cats

Judge for yourself. I'd like to hear all comments, good and bad. Thanks.

HiI posted a thread a few days ago about getting a flowmaster.......Anyway I took a trip to the mufler shop today so he could take a look at the Z (I dont think thay had done one before) so to replace the stock muffler ,just the box at the back, and to use my stock tips they wanted $250 he said he would have to put a bit more pipe in there also,and that they would have to probably use the one they fit to pontiacs. my question is do you think thats a fare price ?? also that part # you quoted 42583 is that the muffler flowmaster make for the Z ??

yea but your exhaust is still gonna be restricted!! if all you cared about was the sound then thats fine, but if your trying to make her breathe better then its not worth it
