Yes, this is what I am doing and they are telling me the ones they have are non locking. The question is, is non locking the lsd or the open diff?

If you find any 350Z or g35 coupe that had the Brembo brakes than it has a viscous LSD. Look under Miami parts...they have a BRrmbo g35 coupe carrier for sale. Same as the 350Z.

I figure if i buy the whole thing assembled from here, my investment is 600 plus a few hours labor, but if I buy the nismo diff, I still need to buy the final drive separately which is another 375 plus a lot more labor involved, maybe another 500, so I would be looking at ~$1750 for the nismo compared to about 800 for the oem vlsd. I am not really a track guy, I like to go to the 1/4 mile track once in a while. How much better is the nismo for off the line traction, is it worth it for me, I go to the track three of four times a year??? And I am getting the torque converter modded next week.

Even occassional drags , it's fine.

I would not bother converting to the viscous LSD unless you get the parts given to you from someone. Given the cost involved, and the fact that you are still getting used pieces for that price, get the NISMO or don't bother doing any of it
