Default 2005 Track ECU thread

ok well as the most of us know the 2005 track edition 350z is boosted to 300hp...how? i have no clue....my first guess would be the ecu is tuned differently...if that is the case there should be a aftermarket company out there that should be able to reflash our ecus for all the people with 03s and 04s and make our stock engines run 300hp....another thing im wondering if it comes with stock exhaust...intake...etc. and im also wondering if fuel system wise if its the same as the older ones...? someones gonna have to do some investigating....but with me i also want 300hp out of my stock motor...and i dont know alot about technosquare but im almost positive that when you relfash the ecu from them that it wont make your stock setup to 300hp...

Have you seen www.infinitinews.com?

The 2005 G35 coupe 6mt sport also has a power bump up near
300hp.

They said it was due to internal engine modifications, check out
the webpage.

So that means your hopes of a simple ECU flash to gain the
extra HP are going down the drain. I too hoped it would be
something as easy as an ECU change, but it's not.

BTW, G35 shares the same engine with the 350Z, in case you didn't
already know.

Is this true or is it just a rumor??? B/c I am trying to decide if I should buy the 04 track at a local dealer, or wait for the 05 track.

This is true, 05 350Z info is up on Nissan site. So if you want the extra 13HP, I would wait. (comes out Jan/05) But in other hand, 13HP is nothing special. It's not like we are talking about 50HP increase or anything.

I don’t think it will be all ECU based. Almost positive that the 05 ECU's will be using a more advanced CAN network and will be much harder to crack and flash. Just a guess on my part though.

I am thinking a little more compression, cam change, and maybe a little ecu tweaking.

Also, do you think that the 05 will not be as "mod-friendly" as the 04 b/c of the increase in the HP? B/c I planned on modding the engine and possibly going TT.

well honestly do you think they are gonna go through all the ******** to change internals inside the engine for a measly 13hp? i dont know about that...changing internals in only the track doesnt make sense to me....sounds like some BS....13 sounds more of sumthin like gained from bolt ons or ecu....but i duno for sure yet!

Sounds like a good point. It makes more sense that they would tweak the ECU instead of changing internals for just one model.

Several months ago, Road and Track (I think it was them) did an article on an "upgraded" Z....the one with the "special" elongated front and rear fascias. They commented that this was the future for production Z's. That engine produced 300hp and 268lb-ft torque. There were two changes....ECU and cams, that's all. Perfromance was no different from current Z. Really, 13hp is nothing to get too excited about. Like almost every other car made, there are bound to be periodic minor upgrades just to keep the market lively.

I read the G35 sedan and coupe mt get 300 but tq is now 270 and its because its using the Vq35 S1 parts which is suppose to be a little more tt friendly.

Why? 13 hp aint nothing to be worried about. Some of us are pushing more hp than the 2005 track. Also knowing Nissan the 300hp is at the crank. Rice math(300 *15% drivetrain loss)=45hp. 300-45=255 at the rear wheels. Get exhaust, headers, cats you are there. Throw a Crawford plenum, ECU tweek, cams, pullies and you are well over 255hp at the rear wheels.

And I agree with VandyZ as the years go by the ECU will slowly turn into a vault. 2003 Z's will be the easiest ECU to crack of them all.

Oh really? Just ECU and cams, that's all?

I think not. I have the article you speak of right in front of me.

I quote from Road&Track:
"The S1 is basically a pumped-up version of the 3.5 liter V6
powerplant in the 350Z. Nismo engineers took apart the base
VQ V6 and rebuilt it using more than a dozen new parts -
including new camshafts, revised ECU, freer-flowing intake
and exhaust, heavy-duty clutch, a lightweight flywheel and
reinforced valve springs and connecting rods."

Gee, that sure sounds like a lot more than just a simple ECU
and cam change. The connecting rods and valve springs were
changed as well so that the redline could be raised past 7000RPM.
Those of you getting just the Technosquare ECU with the raised
redline are risking reliability if you constantly rev that high.
Obviously, you'd need some reinforced valve springs to rev it
high and keep it reliable.

Now I quote from InfinitiNews:
"The G35 Coupe 6MT model receives an additional 18-plus horsepower and a red line increase to 7,000 rpm compared to the automatic transmission-equipped G35 coupes’ standard 280 horsepower and 6,600 rev limit, bringing its power to 298-horsepower. The extra power comes from the addition of electronic exhaust valve timing and numerous structural improvements to the engine block. "

Note: Electronic exhaust valve timing and numerous structal
improvements to the engine block.
