ECU Chips
Whats the best chip for power gains?
Also, I was looking at the list of aftermarket products and most of the chips are listed as JDM-only. Is that the website you were referring to as JDM only or is the chip JDM only?

Im not saying you are wrong, all I am saying is that I dont know. Do you know 100% that the 350Z cant upgrade the ECU? and if so, what the hell are all those ECU chips listed on the aftermarket products list?
This is the link for the Veilside Z33 ECU http://www.veilsidejpn.com/info/z33_parts.html

So a chip for a JDM Z wont work on US Z?
What about those other 2 chips listed for the US-spec?

I was looking at it and the dyno results on it were showing a range of 3-10HP gains. For 600 bucks.. I dunno. Maybe if I wait a little longer they will come out with a better chip.

I have the technosqare ECU and in my opinion it is the best mod I have done. The biggest advantage in my opinion is the redline increase to 7100rpm. Also you said that its gains range from 3-10hp but it also helps you get more hp out of other mods such as an intake, so that has to be taken into account. I am almost positive that you cant put a different chip in your car and it's because of the vehicle immobilizer. Only yours will work in your car that's why you have to send it away to get reflashed but the turnaround is only 3 days so its not bad. I definitely think it was worth the money.
Hmm, i will have to look into it more then. It might be worth the investment. I might wait to get my chip until I have more engine work done to my car because then when I put the chip in I will be able to notice it more.

Hmm.. When I was looking around at products for my car, the only one I had seen was the technosquare one. Then, when I was looking through the aftermarket products list on this forum, it had like 10 listed. I clicked on one randomly, I think it was the Veilside? and it showed a picture of one and it said Z33 ECU Chip..

The whole ECU can't simply be swapped out either because of the immobilizer system on the 350Z. If it is replaced (with another factory ECU) because it has failed, the dealer has to program it to recognize your keys with a Consult II programming tool. Otherwise the car will not start. AFAIK there are no aftermarket ECUs which are compatible with the Nissan immobilizer system.

So if UPS loses the ecu in transit, I won't be totally screwed? I'd just have to have my car towed to the dealer.

They use FedEx both ways. Now tell me, how many people on this board have lost their ECU in shipping? I haven't read of a single case.
Mine was back in 4 days - Over a weekend.
It's a great mod. Mid and Top end are greatly improved, and I no long hit the rev limiter. I have the Crawford Flash BTW.

I ship through both UPS and Fedex for a living and I just know things can happen. But it looks like its not THAT big of a deal anyway if you can just have it reprogramed at the dealer or what ever. I assume they include that cost in the insurance.
