VTC Operation:

Does it mean that we need to set that manually?

Also....

At nismo site, it says that the valve springs are the must for those high angle cams to avoid the interference between the valve and the cams...?!

cheers,

The S1 engine does in fact come with upgraded valve springs. It also comes with stronger con rods, which make the 7200 RPM redline safer.

Here is a photo of the parts included in the NISMO S1 engine package.

No valve springs or con rods.

Murray:

On the Nismo site, it does mention about the Valve Springs and the Con Rod Bolts being included in the package.

We can be able to get MOST of the hardwares (excluding larger intake pipes and the enlarged air box piece), but Nismo Japan is not too helpful in terms of supplying the ECU program at all to people overseas. Therefore, the cams operation is still a big problem for us to be able to run this engine package smoothly.

cheers,

richie

i have my rev limiter raised to 7k....still dont have headers and cams but...its definatley a blast to rev that high...i stay alittle higher up in the power band....and i haven't noticed any problems yet...we kept it low just for safety reasons...i wouldn't go that high very often....especially if your constantly up there bouncing off the rev limiter.....i also noticed our rev limiter is very harsh....i drove my friends mazda 3 and it was stick and i took it up high trying to find the rev limiter and it could barely notice it...when i hit the rev limiter my car bounces....and makes a god awlfull noise...kinda make me sick when i hit it...

Ok cool,
so the valve springs are upgraded in the NISMO S1 engine thats good to know, sorry about the confusion there. Shivak was also saying that the con rods are upgraded which is incorrect, its just the con rod bolts.

Here is the info to go with the photo.

1. S1 private camshaft (IN and EXH)
2. S1 private VTC body
3. Strengthening connecting rod volt/bolt
4. One somatotype of S1 private inlet pipe
Air flow meter (bulk type) 5. S1 private big air funnel
6. S1 private carbon make air duct (only Z 33)
7. Strengthening valve spring
8. S1 exclusive use ECM
9. S-tune sport air element 10 Iridium sparkplug (?ò 7)
11. S1 private carbon make engine cover
12. Verudi eggplant Potts catalyser -
13 Verudi eggplant ten less muffler
Those which exclude the *12,13 become the "based kit"

But the NISMO S1 engine has upgraded cams with higher lift so it would need its springs changed, so that was a bad example. GY-Z is asking in relation to stock cams and increased RPM so what I was saying earlier still applies.

Richie,

Regarding the intake pipe etc, Peter here thinks you could create the larger intake piping and modify the MAF etc. So if you cant track down the original parts then you might be able to make them.

Only rev your car that high in first and second gear because you spend less time at that rpm. In third, 4th, and 5th you probally break something. Definitly 4th and 5th.
