Default Best Rear Diff Fluid?

Since the 350Evo ring and pinion has been in now for a few thousand miles I want to replace the rear diff fluid with some quality stuff...what are your recommendations?

I have read a few forums mentioning Redline, Schaefers and Royal Purple interchangeably as all being good brands. My own non scientific use of this stuff over the years tells me that what works well in one application does not always work well in another.

So what have you guys used in your Z's that you have been happy/unhappy with? What was the net result of changing the fluid performance wise for you (was noise reduced, increased, etc)

Thanks in advance!

Adam

I used redline and it shifts al ittl better when cold, but other than that, no noticable difference. Does Amsoil make gear oil?

It is not recommended to use synthetic gear oils in clutch pack LSD's such as Nismo, KAAZ, Cusco. It may even cause your LSD to fail, or not engage properly.

I use the KAAZ fluid exclusively since it has the right additives and seems to quiet down the clunking. I change oil after every event or 3,000 miles. It's not cheap though.

Sup Adam,

I use AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 75W-90 Gear Lube in both my diff. and tranny. This fluid meets both diff. and tranny API MT-1 & GL requirements.

For more information on this fulid check out: http://www.amsoil.com/products/tgr.htm

I run a royal purple gear oil and a friction modifier. Works good in my book. rear grabs very well and is quieter.

Redline (lightweight) shockproof gear oil. You can run it in your tranny and your differential...

Recently switched to Amsoil Series 2000 in both tranny and diff. Tranny is noticeably quieter and I swear I'm getting more torque to the wheels as I can break them loose much easier.

I run RP 57W90 Max in the 6MT, works fine.
Have run the same other "clutch type diffs" without issue.
Intend to run the same in my new Cusco RS.
Friction modifiers are not necessary with RP max.

I just switched to Mobil 1 synthetic in my 350Z stock diff (and also in the wife's BMW M roadster's diff). It's the easiest to find. I've been happy with it in both cars.
