Default Engine For Sale, But Want To Know If It Is A Good Buy?

There is a engine for sale for $699 that came out of a flood victims car down in flordia. It has low miles, but the bad thing about it is it has a bent rod from hydrolocking. I was wondering if this engine would still be worth building. I am going to change the cyclinder walls anyway, does anyone know what else I should probably worry about? THanks

Severe hydrolocking can cause more serious damage than just a bent rod. Without a full teardown and inspection , it's a bit of a crap shoot. You just need to ask yourself, can you afford to flush $699 down the hole worse case. But a known rebuildable longblock for $699 is very good deal.

I know just for the heads it would be worth about $400 of it, but I can't see the block broke down because it is online and the person lives in florida. Would the heads and all be messed up from hydrolocking the engine.

I think it is absolutely worth it. Though there is a 95% chance that if the car hydrolocked, the majority of the internals are toast (rods, pistons, pins, crank etc.). However if the rods were just bent and didnt wreak havock all over the block, your fine and you should definitely pick it up.
