DIY plenum porting
#626
Yup, just trying to clear out these extra parts. Decided to trade in wife's FX instead of modding it. We apparently are going to need a mini-van soon.
Now I'm actually a bit curious what can be done with with the revup plenum...

Thanks for the offer.. I actualy own a shop down here in south florida so I think I am just going to wait untill one of my customers doesnt want one. Or maybe trade it for one of my modded non rev up's since I have a couple laying around.

Here is mine...lol These pics are a mock up on the other SER I have that I have been parting out. These were the 1st pics i took of it, and since then it has been in the process of being "beautified", PnP, and powder coated. Went with 5/16 spacer set...Motordyne, and the upper/lower IM has been port matched as well as smoothed out inside the IM. Intake will be custom tubing and will be 3" ID. My hood is being cut up to provide adequate clearance for the position that the 350Z IM has to be mounted on our cars. When the hood is done it will look very similar to the 350Z HR, with the bulge in the hood. I am happy. I give full credit to Gene (leathe of heaven) for starting this project and passing it to me to take over.. Always a pioneer! Thanks Gene.
Before I sent it off for the PnP & powder coating I removed some of the unnecessry tabs fron the lower IM and did some smoothing of the perimeter......

Great work man ...... I'm just having a hard time imagining how the Intake tubing will fit between the throttle body and 'back of engine bay', hmmm .....
unless, you are rotating the plenum 180 degrees towards the front

Look closer, he's putting the plenum on a FWD VQ, so it's coming out sideways. Kind of wild looking, can say it's the first time I've seen someone try it.

@4DRVIPER, nice SE-R man ........ now it all makes sense lol ......
I wonder if this would make your car run 'lean', as it will allow alot faster/more air flow. Would you need to make adjustments to fuel injectors, air sensors or ecu. How much are you excepting to get out of this conversion, hp wise?

Thanks...as far as run lean it will to some extent, but I am fully set up for dialing in what I need as far as fuel trims etc. I have a TechnoSquare reflashed ECU, with a raised rev limit of 7200RPMs, full PnP heads Ferra valves JWT C9 cams, Cattman headers, Y-pipe, and Magnaflow exhaust, RevUp oil pump and lots of other goodies. I know this IM will flow a good deal better than the stock FWD version the car came with. The fuel injectors are fine as far as duty cycle, they arent quite maxed out. Car is a 5AT so I have also built the tranny, well actuall a company called IPT did the work. VB work was also performed on the tranny. Its good for up to about 450-500hp though I wont see those numbers on this car. Shifts as quick and firm. Next comes a high stall converter. Actually raced a 370Z the other day... I was suprised, and appearantly he was too, but I dont wanna step on toes here so thats all that needs to be said. As of now the cams REALLY woke the car up.
