^^depending on how much time and effort you're willing to spend. just do it yourself and save lots of $$$ Vs. buying a stock polished one for around (i'm only guessing) -/+ $500

As many have said already, polishing a plenum is alot of work.
Crawford Z in Nashville does a fantastic job with polished plenums.
At FANTASTIC price.
$150 + shipping. They supply the plenum...when you send your core back, you get a $50 REFUND!I got mine done in one week.It was perfect!

Call or checkout Crawford online.Doug Stewart is the guy to talk to.
Check my "vehicle photos" for a shot of the plenum.

Hey guys, I wanna attempt this but what tools would I need? A sander or a grinder? I’m completely new to this sorta thing but they’re charging a fortune where I’m from to do it so definitely wanna attempt it myself.

definitely a sander. Start with a heavy grit and work down to a fine grit. 3 or 4 different grits should be all you need. After sanding, get a bag of cheap disposable shop towels and good metal polish and rub it out really good. Basically same principle as wax on wax off.
As for metal polish, parts stores carries one I can't remember the name of. Diamond something. It's white with a black cap. I use it for my exhaust and it looks brand mf spanking new everytime. Even used it on my wife's Altima. Didn't think it would work since it never got cleaned and it's a 2013 but it shined it better than Dwayne Johnson's chrome dome!

Thanks a lot for the response man! Appreciate it. Got a spare Plenum from a buddy to test on so I'll be buying a sander and some materials this week and we'll see how it goes! I'll post an update when I finish.

One thing I’ve not seen in this ten+ year old thread.... how much follow up polishing is required to keep the polished finish up. Ask me how I know (from an old Edelbrick manifold I did decades ago.) 😆 OK maybe I’m just more into driving than showing but I can think of a lot better things to do with my time than re-polishing.... haha.

lol you're not wrong. Unless you open your hood to wipe off your engine bay weekly, it will have a satin look to it down the road!

Got to thinking about this.... wonder if some kind of clear coat would help to retain the polished finish? Hmmm.....

If it doesn't, that'd make a lot of work down the road to strip before getting back to polishing but still, hmmm....

not as far as I know. since polishing it is basically the same as the exhaust tips and they both go through heat cycles, you could just use metal polish like I said before (still recommend the same brand as previously stated) then at least every 2 weeks get some quick detailer spray and wipe it off. Each time you wipe/ wash it, it goes back to its original shine since the polish was applied.

As promised guys 😁 Powder coated the plenum so no oxidation will occur.

Looks good. Curious, you powdered with what? A clear? That would answer my question I was asking regarding whether a clear coat would save the finish over time. Be interested to see this part a year from now. Please put it on your calendar to post follow up next year.
