Default Reverse switch replacement

I have seen both talked about but I was wondering which way was better to replace the reverse light switch, through the cabin, or from under the vehicle?

Also curious about this, is it possible to do it without dropping or lowering the transmission? tried from underneath tonight with ramps could get my hand on it but couldnt get the plug off didn't have any leverage.
