Default 06 350Z LT5 swap

I'm currently working on a project plan to drop an LT5 in my 350Z. Does anyone know if it's been done before? I saw where someone did an LT4 swap last year, so it's certainly possible. Having someone to lean on to fill in missing bits of information as I go would be very helpful.

Why? The LT5 was a great engine when it was introduced back in 1990, but now it's a heavy dinosaur. An LS1 or LS2 is lighter, more powerful and cheaper. Not to mention, there are several kits available that make as LS swap very easy.

GM's killing me with the stupid engine designation recycling. The old LT4 and LT5 aren't old enough to be forgotten. To me, an LT engine is a reverse coolant flow, iron block 5.7L GM engine. I'd be different if these engines were over 50 years old and there weren't really any left on the road.

the gen V engine is not the same as any of the previous old designs.
It is also direct injection.

OP, the amount of money you will spend to do this will be STAGGERING. Not to mention that the LT5 from the C8 is not set up to accept the same accessory drives or boost making as a normal front engine variant would be.

Long story short? a nice full crate ls3 hot cam comes w a warranty for 7200 bucks. the amount of accessories available for it are endless.. and making additional power is very very easy.

I am having to CAD and CNC my own oil pan as well, so factor in a 3-5k dollar oil pan to your build, the factory dry sump system is miserable to deal with in a swap.

Yes i will have a Kong ported cammed Gen V LT4....which no one has done in a z33 yet ( only l83s, maybe 1 with an LT1 and an auto trans) but ....with 100% DIY labor, i am still looking at 35- 40k spent. Its mind boggling. Its not worth it.

Is it a mistake? I think so, but its too late now. is what it is.

I know. My point was I think it's stupid that GM keeps recycling names. There's a whole lotta letters that can be used.
