The Nissan 350Z, like many modern vehicles uses a complex servo driven drive by wire throttle system. With age and miles the throttle body doesn't respond to your foot on the gas pedal like they used too. Idle quality deteriorates. Throttle crispness disappears. Even full throttle power may fall away as the throttle plate becomes gummed up and doesn't retain it's full range of motion. These things all happen slowly and over many miles so many people don't even notice that it is happening.
