FS: Brand New Rebuilt VQ35HR

It is going to require modification, how much modification I'm not sure. Be it the engines are the same size externally it should not be a hard fit, however it just depends on how good you or your shop can make things work. I haven't searched to see if anyone has done that swap yet, have you?

If you wanna do the whole thing right (using HR ecu and no DE ecu at all):
1) HR steering rack
2) HR ABS unit (the newer cars have the VDC unit mounted onto the actual ABS unit in the engine bay, instead of under the drive side dash)
3) Possibly HR brake tubes since the orientation of the ABS unit has changed
4) HR wiring for engine bay
5) Possibly HR wiring for your dash-to-ecu (gauges), since the old VDC unit plug is inside the car under the driver dash, I assume the wiring has changed. You would probably want the HR wiring for your entire gauge cluster (whatever runs from your gauges to the ECU).
6) Along with HR wiring for gauges, you may need the HR gauge cluster. Its cheap though, maybe $100 used.
7) Radiator support brackets and one of the headlight brackets
You may also need the HR power steering pump. The 06+ changed to speed sensitive steering, and from looking at parts diagrams, some valve inside it changed. Its been a while since I looked at it. You may also need the Power Steering Control Module.
and of course, you will need the HR trans. The DE trans will not bolt up. So you will also need to purchase an HR flywheel and clutch.
I haven't researched the SRS (air bag) system yet. It may have nothing to do with the ECU, or you may need the new HR SRS unit to get it to interface with the HR ecu.
I'm sure I have left out a few things, but you get the idea.
Now heres my 2 cents:
If you got a DE car for free, or a HR motor with all the above for free, maybe it would be worth it. But sell your DE car for $10k-$12k, and get an HR for $16k-ish. Saves you a lot of headache and you know everything in the car was designed to work together and its not a frankenstein. True you don't get a built motor for that price, but just do it right the first time. If you want a built HR, buy a built HR car, or buy an HR car and build it.
Good luck with sale OP. Nice motor!

I have 4,000, but the "frankenstein" bit has me from 80% interested down to 10%. I'm so sick of my '04 engine. I'm always having to do something to it; and don't get me started on the oil consumption. I'd much rather start anew..... with more power/torque to boot.

I have a 2003 currently with a built engine and a modified greddy tt kit.... took her to the shop today with what could be big issues.
If I get the engine and tranny, do they bolt right into my engine bay? I never even though I'd be in a situation to ask that question....but figure they would have the same mounting points

The HR engine will go into your engine no problem. If anyone is concerned about fitment talk to the shop that you will be doing your work at to make sure they can do the work. I'm putting an RB26 into my engine bay and it fits wonderfully, so it all depends on whoever is doing the work. But don't be scared to put the practically the same configuration engine into your engine bay, it is not like what I'm doing and putting an engine in that was never meant for the car. The HR engine gas all the similarities ad the DE engine just the dual intake is the major difference. It can and will work in your car without as much modification as I am doing no problem.
