Default Aluminum dash kit

I installed parts of an aluminum dash kit I got from E-dashkit. Did not use most of the pieces as I was not wild about how some of the larger pieces looked. Given that, I just used some accent pieces here and there around the cabin.

I used my Z off my rear emblem on the cargo door - wanted the black/silver contrast as opposed to the full silver cargo door.

I hate to say it but i agree... the first thing that jumped out was the poor fit on the driver's side vent and the top-left corner where the storage door opens up...

The aluminum shouldn't have that thick of a gloss coat on it either imo... is it a brushed aluminum finish underneath, or just silver colour?

Those kits make the car look cheap.

I am curious to see how that kit is with time, i had carbon fiber sticker like that on my MR2 and it started cracking under summer heat. I like the Z on the sliding door though

Yeah, I'm less than thrilled with it . . . looks marginally better in real life. Glad I only installed a few pieces.

How much did you pay for that kit? Where did you get it from?

My thinking is that if you paid 200 dollars for this someone is walking around with 190.50 worth of profit in their pocket.. I really hope you didn't pay more than 50 for this kit.

LOL

Do the words "Heat Gun" mean anything to you? I'd remove that ASAP.

I have taken off most of it . . . could not live with the fit and cheesed out synthetic look of most of the pieces.

The kit was $235 from E-dashkit.com. Took it without lube on that one. Ah well . . . let the buyer beware indeed. Most of my mods and car purchases with the Z have gone great so if this is the worst thing I have to deal with that's kewl.

BTW: I replaced the Z emblem with assorted cereal brand refrigerator magnets. Can't mess with the bling factor of Boo-berry.

Default Not the worst.....

Hi Lance, I remember when you were waiting for the kit.....You mentioned that it was'nt "real aluminum"......Now believe me, I'm not defending edashkits at all. It's just that I have a simulated kit from them called titanium burl,(actually looks marbleish), and it's not the the worst I've seen........we still paid the least for the same type kit that is available anywhere.....There are a few higher quality ones available for around $1000. and up.......My point is we get what we pay for.....I plan to upgrade to the nicer replacement Dash as soon as I can burn a G.......Dave

Yeah, despite my comment above about the 'lube' I'm not overly upset with them.

I really looked at it like a $235 experiment. Might be a steal if it looks good or it might be something you chalk up to live and learn. $200+ bucks for what I got is not unreasonable, I was just hoping to be wowed.

More than anything it makes me wince when peeps make snotty comments about it . . . it's easy to get protective over one's baby!

Is it just me or does the compartment cover in the middle not properly aligned? Looking at the seam, looks too low on the right side.

Yeah I felt like crap when i installed my CF sticky over my dash kit on last car and it didnt fit right and didnt look right. Worse part was people with there comments all though they were right, I sold the kit after having it in my car for a couple weeks.
