I paid a company 300 to fabricate a hideaway license plate for my rear license plate on my MR2 Turbo and they ran out of business and returned non of my money before they were finished. I want this for my Z as well, if you find someone that can make a hideaway rear plate i am in.

Everyone is asking reason for this: In AZ and many other states they use photo radar with vans and posts this is taxation without represention. They would be unable to access tickets if there is no license plate to photo. So it is a matter of survival.

Seriously I am in if someone is interested in making one.

I have used them but here in AZ they have top notch software have recieved two speeding tickets with two different plate covers both with rave reviews. Hideaway only for certain way to beat the system

I think it can be fabricated with a couple of actuators, hinges, springs.. Good thinking 007.
My thoughts exactly.

And what's up with all the "breaking the law" comments?

my cousin in japan got a cover from a company that reflected the light off the camera somehow..or blurred it...but the company went out of business...fogging cover seems like a very good idea..

Just get a cover and bake it for a while until it is sooo foggy and cracked that you can't see through it(like an old dodge neon headlight)LOL. That'll keep the camera from seeing your plate.

i know there's some clear spray you can use that reflects the flash of the camera and whites out the #'s... don't know if it works though

i thought license plate covers were against the law? I was with my friend in his corrola over the summer, and he got a ticket for unclear plates... he only had a license plate frame from the dealer that partially blocked the New Jersey lettering on top of the plate

heres something im using right now,
i Photocopied my plate at officemax with laser copier then
laminated it in plactic looks perfectly real, and put it under a tinted plate cover and that takes away the built in reflectivness of the original yet to the eye looks normal,

as for the retracting/ idea like an old james bond movie
you can modify a folding / retracting headlight assembly from a ton of different cars im sure one would work!
good luck!
