Default Homebrew Defi gauge pillar

Unimpressed with the available gauge pillars, I set out to make my own. This is what I wanted:

1. Gauges shalt not obstruct the view out of windows

2. Gauge faces shalt be precisely perpendicular to my line of sight while seated comfortably

3. Gauges shalt not deviate from the present interior design

So I made liberal use of fiberglass resin and 2" cardboard tubes from the post office, and came up with something resembling rods protruding out of the a-pillar. It looks better in person, the flash brings out all the finger prints.

congrats on the nice work, but I would suggest scrapping/selling it and grabbing the autometer 3 gauge pod .. it will just look a lot nicer

Since you have experience with fiberglass, you should make a gauge pod that sits on top of the 3 gauges in the center console...

Again, good job with the DIY.... but this may qualify for the hall of shame next to the puffy seat mod. Anyone still have pics of that?

what exactly did you fiberglass? Cause from what I can tell it looks like you just spray painted some paper-towel rolls. and glue them on to the pillar. Honestly, go for the integrated look of autometer gauge pillar.

i think he fiberglassed the tubes to reinforce them as not to crumble if you squeeze the TProll too hard- its just wrapping it with resin, although you might have been able to achieve that strength with just putting resin on the TP roll-

i still think the Defi gauge holder that CAME with the gauges are good enough to mount on the Apillar- thats what i justdid for my boost-

how about cutting them down a bit to make them shorter?

Good job on the DIY, it does look nicely molded in, although I think it sticks out too much.

Here's my necessities when it comes to gauge pods..

1. Thou shalt not look like a ****** while driving.

2. Thou shalt not poke one in the eye.

You gotta be joking
