Default Tapping a 12v source in the car and installing a switch?

im a newb at electric type stuff and im learning quickly. I'm trying to install interior lighting for my Z and i wanna know how/where to hook up the lights (12v power) with a switch ... i was thinking fuse box/ignition/cig lighter but i wanna know the actual way to hook up these wires and how to install a switch. I've been searching the forums and have seen a few things that have helped but nothing major. thanks in advance!

go behind the center console where the sterio head unit is, usually theres tons of 12v goodies back there. If you have a cig lighter or anything just tap into it.

when you hook the wires together ... do you solder them or twist them together or plug them in or what?

whenever i work with wires I use blue/yellow connectors. They hold the best from my experience, and they are quick and easy to work with.

i actually ended up deciding to use a dedicated 10 gauge line from the battery to a fuse box which will run to a switch which will connect my lights.
