any btw, i followed all the proper instructions, including holding the shift lever part under the boot so it wouldn't twist (or at least i thought it wasn't twisting) and twisting the **** from the top of the boot.

It's hard to tell from the last pic if the threads are still on the end of the shaft, but if so and you didn't rip the boot, I think you're ok. Too bad you F'd up the stock **** like that. You must not have used the radiator hose as suggested. Hopefully you used vice-grips on the shaft to prevent from bending/twisting it. Have you tried assembling everything with the new ****? If it all goes together and the car shifts ok, I wouldn't worry.

It's hard to tell but it looks like you broke the threads off the shaft. Nothing you can really do but buy a short shifter, unless you can find someone selling thier stock shifter.

i'm pretty sure the threads are still there and i was holding the shift lever with a set of pliers while my friend used another set to twist the stock ****. he had a towel between the pliers and the **** but it screwd up the **** anyway. that i'm not worried about, since i dont plan on going back to the stock ****. i used some rubber stuff between the pliers and the plastic boot where i was holding the shift lever.

i can still grab the top of the piece in the last picture and move the shifter properly into gear so that is a good sign (i think).

what i'm not sure now is what i need to do to get the new shift **** into place. does the shifter screw onto the piece in the last picture? or is the piece the shifter supposed to screw onto what is attached still to the bottom of the stock **** (on the underside of the boot) in the last picture?

thanks...

If you look at the last picture you should have threads on top to screw the new shifter on to. I don't see any. Also if you look at the third picture, the shift **** should separate right at the shift boot but you have an extra three inches attached to it. If I'm not mistaken I think you broke your shift lever.

so yea i think i screwed up the shifter, but the transmission is doing fine. i managed to get the **** off the piece that you can on the bottom side of the shift boot, but that piece only went on part way because it was a little bent on the bottom. and i'm not sure if that piece is even supposed to come off at all. anyway my friends and i managed to round out the bottom so it slid on a little and gave it some good hits with a soft mallet to hold it in place, and i'll end up getting a short shifter soon.

took it for a test drive and it seems to work just fine. i can't believe changing a damn shift **** is such a hassle. my friends spec v s-er was so much easier to change the **** in! time to treat my friends to pizza...

Personally I really like the stock shift ****, it's leather, aluminum and it has a good feel to it. I don't forsee changing it out any time soon.

The top of the stock shift **** isn't aluminum, its painted plastic. Mine is all scratched up and the paint fell off in a few places so i'm thinking of replacing my shift ****. It is probably worth a few bucks to take the car to a dealership and let them pull it off for you.

It' so strange that some people experience so many difficulties removing their stock shifter, while others have no issues whatsoever.

I had to remove mine in order to install my s.s. and twisted it out with my hand. Had no problems removing it or putting it back together. I've heard some people using wrenches and all their strength but it still wouldn't give.

I don't know why the some shifters are attached differently than others but it definetly seems like they are.

Had a Rogue SSK installed yesterday, and the tech had a hella time getting the stock unit apart. My dealer can't get the steering wheel off, either, come to think of it. Mine's a pre-order; maybe the later ones are easier?

I'd never go back to the stock shifter after using the Rogue, though. Been wanting a Voodoo since before I took delivery, too, so it's all good.

I have the nismo Ti shift **** as well. Did the install yesterday. (love it) If you followed the instructions why is the boot and part of the shifter off the car? It doesn't say anything about that in the directions.

It was a ***** to get off, but I managed without ****ing up my stock shifter too. Either way your best bet is to put it all together again see how she shifts. From what I read the only way to really **** it up is not stabilizing the bottom before twisting, or twisting the wrong way.

Good Luck
